Live from Kuching International Airport, our Sarawak Men’s Rugby Sevens squad begins their journey to Selangor today ahead of SUKMA Selangor 2026.

With their first match kicking off on 20 August, the next few days will be about settling in, final preparation and getting the team ready for the challenge ahead.

MEET OUR SPORT DEVELOPMENT OFFICER 🏉 | SUKMA XXII SELANGOR 2026

Sarawak Rugby Union (SRU) is pleased to introduce NIKRAM SHAZRAN BIN SAPARI from the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC), who will serve as the Sport Development Officer (Rugby) throughout Sarawak Rugby’s campaign at SUKMA XXII Selangor 2026.

Throughout the campaign, Nikram will play an important role in supporting the team, with particular focus on the welfare of our athletes and officials, team requirements, and other essential support matters — ensuring that the squad can remain focused and well supported throughout the competition.

Working closely with the team management and coaching staff, his presence as SSC’s support officer will be valuable in coordinating and addressing the team’s needs throughout our time in Selangor.

Sarawak Rugby Union proudly congratulates Faqrul Hafiz bin Abu Bakar, affectionately known as Ucuk, on his appointment as Team Manager of the Sarawak Women’s SUKMA Rugby Team for SUKMA XXII Selangor 2026.

Known for his hands-on approach, he has played an important role in coordinating training camps, tournament participation, team logistics, player welfare, sponsorship initiatives and administrative matters. His commitment has been instrumental in ensuring that the team remains organised, supported and focused throughout its preparation.

Having been part of the Sarawak women’s rugby journey, including the team’s silver-medal campaign at the previous SUKMA, he now carries the responsibility of guiding the squad towards another strong performance on the national stage.
