Chiefeater Aun Chuan has been steadily sharing his food finds all around Penang Island and also the mainland with us on Chiefeater. What I love about his discoveries is that many of them have been around for years and are the culinary heritage gems of the Northern region.
Follow his page to find out more. If you did not notice it before, each Chiefeater has a map of where their reviews taken them before right at the bottom of the section

Sometimes all that's needed is a very simple dish to make your meal. This was the case with the pork patty with salted fish at Loong Hwa Kopitiam in Bandar Puteri Puchong for me. Full of flavour and firm of bite and nicely priced at RM11.90 per plate.

KL has been raving about a certain Uncle's fried rice the last 2 days. Here's a list of fried rice that has existed before Uncle decided to set up shop in a ritzy part of KL.

On a day that Jen craved for Indian food, I made a delivery order from Asian Rice Pot. I ordered chicken 65, an egg kalakki, a side order of fish curry, a thosai set and 2 appam. The star turned out to be the thosai set. At RM3.50, it came with sides of curry which really complemented the dish extremely well. They are based in SS5A so either make your way there or make a delivery order from them - the thosai is worth it.

Tsuen Wan Sunway Geo is a place that seldom disappoints. In a recent visit, we ordered a stir fried hor fun with beef and what a gem it was. The dish was full of wok hei. The aroma hit me even before it arrived on the table. It’s definitely something I don’t mind ordering again. We had other dishes as well but this one blew the other noodle out of the water

Wah Kiow Yong Tau Foo in Pudu was a place that Chiefeater Luke Soon introduced me to years ago. Because of the development of Sunway Velocity, the original stall was demolished and I did not of their whereabouts until last year. They resurfaced as Kiow Jie in Bandar Mahkota Cheras. I finally had a chance to try it and if you are not from around this area, it does take awhile to get here.
Was it worth it? Well, it is still a good tasting Yong Tau Foo. Except that it is so refined. Since when did Hakka YTF become so refined? I like my hakka YTF to be chunky textured and strong flavoured. My grouse aside, they have done well enough to have a second outlet in Taman Connaught. So what do I know?

This started out as part of the Georgetown list but then it just grew and now they have a lis of their own. It used to be an area that my uncle and aunt would bring me for the then famous chicken rice. But of course, there’s so much more to it now with the land reclamation and new eateries sprouting up.

White Curry Mee is the variant of curry mee that originated in Penang. Itfeatures a creamy, coconut milk-based broth that’s lighter in colour compared to the rich, red curry that we are used to in KL and PJ. If you do know of more places, please feel free to share it.
