Ever wondered what actually goes on in a private Pilates session — and whether it's worth it?
It's not just you and a Reformer. In a private session, you have access to the full studio: every piece of equipment, chosen specifically for what your body needs that day.
But the equipment is just the toolbox. The real work starts with understanding you — your goals, how you move, what's holding you back. From there, every exercise has a purpose.
No guesswork. No generic programming. Just smart, intentional movement that gets you stronger, more balanced, and feeling better in your body.
Your first session is part consultation, part assessment, part workout. You'll leave knowing more about your body than when you walked in.
DM to book your first session.

Hello everyone, please note that this event has been rescheduled to 26 April (time & venue remain unchanged) to ensure the best possible experience for all attendees. Those who had signed up for the original date have been notified via email. We look forward to hosting you! :)
Perimenopause doesn’t start when your periods change—it often begins much earlier.
If you’ve been feeling “off” lately—low energy, poor sleep, brain fog, strange aches, mood shifts—it might not be random. And you’re not alone.
Uptown Pilates is honoured to host a Perimenopause Talk + Reformer Experience in collaboration with and to give you clarity on what’s happening in your body—and what you can actually do about it.
You’ll learn:
• How to recognise early signs of perimenopause
• What’s happening hormonally (explained simply)
• How to support your body through nutrition, lifestyle & HRT
• Why strength training is essential—and how to do it right
Plus, you’ll get to experience a 20-min strength-focused Reformer session—very different from your typical “burn” class.
This is about understanding your body and training in a way that supports you now—not how you used to.
If you’re in your 30s–50s and want to feel stronger, clearer, and more in control of your health—this is for you.

Not sure which class suits you?
Here’s a clear guide on our class types so you can start confidently.
Reformer Pilates
- Uses the Reformer machine—a sliding carriage with adjustable springs for resistance, footbar, straps, and boxes. This adds variable support and challenge.
- Benefits & Feel: The springs provide assistance and resistance, making exercises more accessible (e.g., easier to engage the core without straining) while allowing for deeper stretches and strength building. It's often described as more dynamic, fun, and "forgiving" for the body.
- Pace & Progression: Starts very educational and slow (in Fundamentals), building to flowing, challenging sequences.
Best For: Building strength with external feedback; great for variety and progression.
Mat Pilates
- Just a mat (and optional small props in Sculpt). Everything is bodyweight-based.
- Benefits & Feel: Relies entirely on your own strength and control against gravity—often feels more challenging initially because there's no external support. Align is classical and breath-led (pure, traditional Pilates), while Sculpt adds resistance for extra toning.
- Pace & Progression: Mindful and controlled; great for building deep intrinsic strength and body awareness.
Best For: Portability, foundational core work, and mastering movements without equipment.

Speed. Strength. Power.
Most athletes already have those.
What’s usually missing?
➡️ Control under fatigue
➡️ Joint integrity
➡️ Efficient force transfer
That’s where Pilates comes in.
Pilates trains the in-between:
• How your ribs stack over your pelvis
• How force moves from foot → hip → spine → shoulder
• How to stabilise before you explode
• How to produce power without leaking it through poor mechanics
But here’s where it becomes truly game-changing for athletes 👇
In personalised 1:1 private sessions, we:
✔️ Identify side-to-side imbalances
✔️ Address dominant vs under-recruited muscles
✔️ Re-pattern movement that compensation has been masking
✔️ Tailor exercises to your sport, body and history
Bonus benefits for athletes:
• Improved flexibility & range of motion
• Better breathing & mind-body connection
• Enhanced balance, posture & coordination
• Faster recovery & longer career
Pilates isn’t extra — it’s essential.
Real-world examples from pros: Athletes like Cristiano Ronaldo, LeBron James, Tiger Woods, Andy Murray, and many NFL/NBA players incorporate Pilates for these reasons.
Athletes don’t get injured because they’re weak.
They get injured because one link in the chain stops doing its job.
Pilates restores that link.
Strong is good.
Controlled, balanced strength is what sustains performance.
