The ASEAN University Sports Council (AUSC) was honoured to participate in the 2nd AUSF Regional Development Programme and organised the 40th AUSC Meeting in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 2 – 5 May 2026.

Hosted by the University Sports Board of Thailand (USBT) and the Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF), with the support of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the programme provided an important regional platform for collaboration, strategic discussions, and knowledge exchange among university sports leaders and stakeholders across ASEAN.

Key discussions during the 40th AUSC Meeting focused on strengthening governance, enhancing regional cooperation, and preparations for future ASEAN university sports events, including the 22nd ASEAN University Games Kuala Lumpur 2026.

The Regional Development Programme further reinforced the shared commitment towards developing sustainable university sports ecosystems and nurturing future sports leaders across the ASEAN region.

Chiang Mai will always hold a special place in AUSC history as the city where the AUSC journey began and where the inaugural ASEAN University Games was successfully hosted in 1981 — marking the start of a proud legacy of unity and excellence through university sports in the ASEAN region.

AUSC looks forward to continued collaboration with all member countries and partners in advancing university sports development and promoting unity through sports.
