Namibia’s oldest coastal sporting event
Whether you’re a runner or cyclist, like to participate professionally or just for pleasure, the Hangana Hake Run & Ride offers a truly unique experience set against the backdrop of sand and sea.
Hosted by Hangana Seafood since 2017, it is one of the oldest road-running events in Namibia. It was originally established as the Ovenstone Dolphin Marathon in 1983, after which it was known as the Lucky Star Marathon for many years.
The Hangana Hake Run & Ride takes place at Walvis Bay every first Saturday of October (5 Oct 2019 and 3 Oct 2020) drawing an estimated 1000 participants annually. Runners can choose between the marathon, half marathon and 10km fun run events, while cyclist can participate in the 90km Namibian Cycling Federation sanctioned road race, 21km mountain bike or 5km kiddies’ events.
