NEDBANK CYCLE CHALLENGE CELEBRATES 40 YEARS OF NAMIBIAN CYCLING EXCELLENCE

The Nedbank Cycle Challenge celebrates a major milestone in 2026, marking 40 years since it debuted as Namibia’s first-ever corporate cycling event. Originally a modest gathering, it has evolved over four decades into the “Greatest Ride Under the Sun,” serving as a vital launchpad for world-class Namibian athletes like Dan Craven and Vera Looser.

The historic 40th-anniversary race takes place on Sunday, 22 February 2026, starting and ending at the UNAM Sports Field. Cyclists can compete in 100km, 60km, or 25km distances, following a route that stretches along the Dr Hage Geingob Freeway toward the airport and through the Kupferberg area.

This year also marks the return of the Nedbank Kidz Challenge on Saturday, 21 February, which aims to register 100 young riders for a fun-filled morning of racing starting at 11:00.

Prospective participants must act quickly, as online entries via events.today.com.na/events/9. platform close tomorrow, Wednesday, 18 February 2026.
