"In the dance, we find a common place—a point of contact where we find each other in delight." ✨💃
There’s something truly magical about the way salsa brings people together. It doesn’t care about where you’re from or what language you speak; on the dance floor, we are one. Whether it’s a shared smile during a turn or the trust between a lead and a follower, every step is a conversation that builds a bridge between strangers.

Johnny Colon is an American Salsa musician, multi instrumental band leader, vocalist and founder of the East Harlem Music School.
As a major contributor to the 1960's Latin Boogaloo sound, Colon has been described as one of the living legends for "shattering the conventions of 60s orchestrations". His exquisite musicality coupled with innovative arrangements, was at the forefront of a new musical movement in Latin Boogaloo.
Colon, along with his counterparts in Latin Boogaloo, personified their generation in sound and song.
Colon combined jazz, soul, R&B, mambo and son montuno, singing in both English and Spanish. This mixing of traditional Latin music with the popular American music of the time expressed the unique multi cultural identity of young Latino Americans in New York.
Latin Boogaloo and its artists like Colon, have influenced and shaped the Salsa we know today.
Johnny Colon went on to found the East Harlem Music School offering free music lessons to the community. Students like Tito Nieves and Marc Anthony would go on to become the superstars of Salsa.
Colon, is one of the most impactful Salsa artists in the genre, for both his music, his message and his teachings and has earned his place in the Great American Song book.
