Coastal Women Dominate League Opener with Emphatic Win
The Coastal Women's Rugby Team delivered a commanding performance in their opening match of the Namibian Rugby Women's League, thrashing Okahandja Bokkies 57β5 in a one-sided encounter in Okahandja on Saturday.
From the first whistle, Coastal stamped their authority on the game, controlling possession and dictating the tempo with confidence. Their attacking unit proved relentless, breaking through the Okahandja defence time and again to rack up an impressive tally of tries. Blending speed, structure, and physicality, the visitors overwhelmed the hosts in all facets of play. Defensively, Coastal were equally impressive, standing firm throughout the match and conceding just a single try. Among the standout performers was Emilyn Marias, who crossed the try line three times with Madelein van der Bijl, added two tries, while Kinda Hannalie, Zenobia van Wyk, Anushcka Ipinge, and Faisa-Lee Tjivava each contributed a try. Wandri Waterboer capped off a strong performance with a try and a successful conversion. The emphatic victory marks an ideal start to the season for Coastal Women, who will be eager to build on this momentum as the league progresses. For Okahandja Bokkies, the result highlights key areas for improvement as they regroup ahead of their next fixture.
With such a dominant display, Coastal Women have firmly established themselves as one of the teams to watch in this year's competition. Their next game will be against the United Gemsbokkies on 25 April at 12:30 in Windhoek.
