Welcome to Ngozi's Diary.

This is my personal space for conversations around growth, purpose, personal development, leadership, relationships, work, creativity, community and life.

I am Ngozi Kennedy — a Programme and Project Management professional, people developer, facilitator, writer and social-impact leader.

I have always been fascinated by people: why we become who we become, why some people discover their potential while others remain stuck, and what happens when someone finally receives the right guidance, encouragement and opportunity.

Through my work, writing, teaching, facilitation, community-building and Bloom And Grow Empowerment Initiative , I am committed to creating spaces where people can learn, grow and become more intentional about their lives.

I don't have everything figured out.

This diary is not the story of a woman who has arrived. It is the story of a woman who is becoming.

Here, I share what I am learning, what life is teaching me, what I am discovering about people and purpose, and the experiences that are shaping the woman and leader I am becoming.

Good Is Not Enough: Why We Need the Holy Spirit in This Season

This morning, while studying the Scriptures, I came to a sobering realization:
In this life, we desperately need the help of the Holy Spirit to survive and thrive.

Being a good person is not enough.
Working hard is not enough.
Even keeping all the commandments is not enough—especially in the times we live in.

Many people ask, "Why do bad things happen to good people?"
Often, it’s because good people are simple-minded—not foolish, but pure-hearted. They are open, sincere, and free-spirited. They don't assume evil, don't scheme, and don’t imagine that others could deliberately hurt them. They treat people with honesty and expect the same in return.

Unfortunately, not everyone lives with that same heart.

Good people are sometimes targeted—not because they are wrong, but because others are jealous of their goodness, threatened by their growth, or uncomfortable with their light. While the good-hearted are thinking peace, others are thinking strategy.

If we lived our lives constantly assuming everyone wants to hurt us, relationships would be impossible. That’s why God didn’t design us to rely on suspicion—but on discernment.

This reminds me of the children of Israel in Egypt. They lived freely, minding their business, growing and prospering. It never crossed their minds that they would become slaves. But God already foresaw what was coming and even told Abraham ahead of time. Their simplicity and fruitfulness stirred fear and jealousy in the Egyptians, who then devised wicked schemes against them.

That same pattern still exists today.

This is why the Holy Spirit is not optional.

The Holy Spirit helps the simple-hearted not to become victims. He whispers, "Don't go there.
He checks us: 'Don't answer that call.
He redirects us: "Stay where you are."

He doesn't make us paranoid—He makes us wise.

The Bible says the days are evil, and the enemy goes about seeking whom he may devour. Without the Holy Spirit, goodness alone can make us vulnerable. But with Him, goodness is strengthened by wisdom.

So hear this, oh simple-hearted soul:
Don't lose your kindness.
Don't harden your heart.
But don't live unled.

Don't just be a good person—be discerning.
Be wise.
Be Spirit-led.

May we not be victims of evil circumstances, in Jesus' name. Amen.
