Mauritius 2024. The Stallions were in the fight but we knew more was coming.
A tough first leg But we watched. We worked. We came back.
Fast forward to 2025. same tournament, same pitch, different story as we finished 7th β a massive jump from 11th, with a gutsy display against South Africa and a dominant 29β12 win over Burkina Faso along the way.
Four places. One year. The Stallions 7s are not done climbing. π³π¬ππ΄

NRFF Meets Military Leaders Ahead Of Maiden Military And Paramilitary Rugby Sevens League
The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation has intensified consultations with key military stakeholders ahead of the maiden Military and Paramilitary Rugby Sevens League.
As part of the engagement, President of the Federation, Ademola Are, met with the Director of Sports, Defence Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Timothy Marquis, who was represented by the Deputy Director of Physical Training, Air Commodore Samuel Osoniyi.
During the meeting, both parties held extensive discussions on the participation of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Air Force in the inaugural competition.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Are commended the military for its efforts in tackling insecurity across the country. He also praised the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, for his leadership and innovative initiatives.
Dr. Are noted that rugby promotes mental toughness, discipline and physical fitness, adding that the Federation is committed to supporting members of the armed forces through sports. He appealed for the support of the Defence Headquarters to ensure the participation of the Army, Navy and Air Force in the league.
In his remarks, Air Commodore Osoniyi thanked the Federation for engaging with the Defence Sports Department. He said sports remain an important tool for enhancing the physical and mental preparedness of military personnel, while stressing that the primary responsibility of the armed forces remains the defence of the nation.
He added that, subject to the operational schedules of the services, the military is open to further discussions aimed at actualising the project once it receives the endorsement of the Chief of Defence Staff.
