๐Ÿ”ธThe African Union Sports Council (AUSC)Region 2 has endorsed the Delta Senators U19 Unifier Cup, a grassroots football tournament focused on discovering and promoting young talent.

๐Ÿ”ธAt a strategic meeting held at Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, convened by Amb. Onoriode Omagufi, AUSC officials including Secretary General Chief Michael Shamsu Mustapha and Senior Sports Officer Mr. Abdoul-Rafiou Assoumanou were unveiled in support of the initiative.

๐Ÿ”ธDiscussions centered on strengthening collaboration to create international exposure opportunities for Nigerian youth through scouts and professional clubs.

๐Ÿ”ธ AUSC Region 2 will maintain a presence throughout the 10-day tournament in Delta State, providing institutional support and monitoring proceedings.

๐Ÿ”ธ Officials praised the tournament as a platform for youth empowerment, unity, and talent development, reaffirming their commitment to advancing grassroots sports across Africa.

THE GAMBIA TO HOST 2026 AFRICAN UNION SPORTS COUNCIL REGION 2 GAMES AS ASKY AIRLINES NAMED OFFICIAL AIRLINE PARTNER

Banjul, The Gambia โ€“ March 2026

The Government of the Republic of The Gambia, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has officially signed the Host Agreement with the African Union Sports Council Region 2 for The Gambia to host the prestigious AUSC Region 2 Games scheduled to take place in Banjul from 7โ€“13 June 2026.

The agreement formally designates Banjul as the host city for the regional multi sport event, which will bring together young athletes under the age of 20 from member states across the region to compete in a celebration of youth development, sports excellence, and regional unity.

As part of preparations for the Games, the African Union Sports Council Region 2 has also announced a strategic partnership with ASKY Airlines, naming the airline as the Official Airline Partner for the 2026 AUSC Region 2 Games.

Under this partnership, ASKY Airlines will provide travel and logistical support for athletes, officials, and stakeholders attending the regional multi-sport event. The collaboration is expected to strengthen cooperation between the sports and aviation sectors in Africa while ensuring the smooth movement of participating delegations to and from The Gambia.

Sporting disciplines scheduled for the 2026 AUSC Region 2 Games include:

โ€ข Basketball (3x3)
โ€ข Beach Volleyball
โ€ข Boxing
โ€ข African Traditional Games (Exhibition)
