*SPORTS DEVELOPMENT: OLADIMEJI CALLS FOR COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY*

In his determination to take sports development in Ondo State to greater heights, the Chairman of the Ondo State Sports Council, Hon. Oladimeji Abimbola, has emphasized that the development of sports should not be left to government alone.

According to him, individuals, corporate organisations, philanthropists and other relevant stakeholders have important roles to play by contributing their quota, no matter how little, towards the growth and development of sports in the State.

Hon. Oladimeji noted that collective efforts and strategic partnerships would provide greater opportunities for young talents, motivate the youth to pursue their sporting dreams and sharpen their careers, while also contributing to the restoration of the State's rightful position on the national and international sporting activities.

The Chairman stated this during a discussion with Mrs. Mary Burder, who came from Germany to explore a possible partnership in support of his vision to revitalise sports and restore the glory of Ondo State.

Abimbola constitutes A three-man Workforce Committee, headed by Hon. Babatunde Martins Borode, a member of the Board, to facilitate engagement with the individuals, corporate organisations to support sports development in the State.

*SPORTS DEVELOPMENT: OLADIMEJI’S CALL FOR PARTNERSHIP YIELDS POSITIVE RESPONSE*

The call by the Chairman of the Ondo State Sports Council, Hon. Oladimeji Abimbola, for individuals, corporate organisations and other stakeholders to join hands with government in the development and promotion of sports in the State is already yielding positive results, giving renewed assurance that collective efforts can bring about meaningful transformation.

Barely two weeks after assuming office, Hon. Oladimeji raised concerns over the condition of the structures and sports facilities he inherited at the Council.
He emphasised that sports is a major investment that should not be left solely to government.

According to him, individuals, corporate organisations and other stakeholders have important roles to play in supporting the State Government’s efforts to develop sports, empower the youth, take them off the streets and engage them meaningfully through sporting activities.

In a positive response to the Chairman’s call, the Regional Manager of United Bank for Africa (UBA), Mr. Iyioko Tope, alongside his team, including the Relationship Manager, Mr. Samson Omole, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Ondo State Sports Council and expressed interest in partnering with the Council towards the advancement of sports in the State.

While inspecting some of the obsolete and deteriorating facilities within the Sports Complex, Mr. Iyioko commended the Chairman’s vision and assured him that UBA would be part of the ongoing efforts to promote and develop sports in Ondo State.

The visit marks a significant step towards strengthening public-private partnerships in sports development and provides renewed hope that the collective efforts of government, corporate organisations and individuals can contribute significantly to restoring the glory of sports in Ondo State.

The development further underscores the emerging new chapter in the Ondo State Sports Council under the leadership of Hon. Oladimeji Abimbola, whose administration has continued to foster a peaceful, united and conducive working environment within the Council.

NEW CHAPTER BEGINS AS ONDO STATE SPORTS COUNCIL BOARD ASSUMES OFFICE

A new chapter has commenced at the Sports Council with the formal assumption of office by the newly constituted Board of the Council.

The newly constituted Board, led by its Chairman, Hon. Abimbola Oladimeji, today held an introductory meeting with the General Manager and the Directors ahead of its formal engagement with members of the Management.
During the meeting with the Management, the Chairman called for a strong working relationship, unity of purpose and mutual cooperation between the Board and the Management.
He appealed to the Management to work with the Board and have a common vision towards the advancement and development of sports in the State.

The assumption of office marks the beginning of a renewed era of collaboration and accountability.

*THE ACTING GENERAL MANAGER OF ONDO STATE SPORTS COUNCIL RESUMES OFFICE AMID WILD JUBILATION

The Ondo State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, has appointed Mrs. Evelyn Lebi as the Acting General Manager of the Ondo State Sports Council.

The appointment was officially confirmed and announced to the people of the state and the Council by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Segun Henry Omoyofunmi, during his first general meeting with the entire management and staff of the Ondo State Sports Council. During the meeting, the Commissioner dismissed rumours of a planned protest by the Council, describing them as a mere miscommunication.

In his address, Hon. Omoyofunmi described the appointment of Mrs. Evelyn Lebi has a move aimed at fostering unity, peace, and the overall development of sports in Ondo State.
In line with government policy,

the Acting General Manager officially assumed office today amid wild jubilation by members of staff, state athletes, as well as family members and friends who gathered to celebrate the occasion.

Immediately upon resumption, Mrs. Lebi swung into action by holding a closed-door meeting with the management of the Sports Council, followed by a general meeting with the entire staff at the Indoor Sports Hall.

While delivering her welcome address, Mrs. Lebi expressed her gratitude to the Ondo State Government for the opportunity to serve. She also appreciated the management and staff of the Council for warmly accepting her as one of their own.

She noted that her appointment was based on her experience and exposure, which she intends to deploy in implementing government policies on sports development and ensuring a positive turnaround for sports in Ondo State.

Mrs. Lebi further appealed for the cooperation and support of all stakeholders, stressing that peace and unity are essential for the smooth running of her administration.

According to her, the welfare of state athletes remains a top priority and will not be compromised, adding that staff welfare will also receive adequate attention.

She assured everyone that her administration would operate an open-door policy, stating, “My administration is an open-door administration, open to all.”
