Chelsea believed they had secured Lamine Camara after making their move for the Monaco midfielder.

The Blues reportedly agreed a fee of around £47m, while Camara was happy with the proposed deal and had even completed his medical.

A long-term contract until 2033 was also ready, so the transfer appeared to be heading towards completion. �

But Monaco changed their position late in the process.

With Everton still showing interest in Folarin Balogun, Monaco decided they were unwilling to lose Camara as well and pulled back from the agreement.

Chelsea could have looked again at Enzo Fernández's potential departure to Manchester City, but instead chose to stick to the commitments already made.

The result? Camara stays at Monaco, and what looked like a completed Chelsea transfer is now completely off. ��
