There are moments in the history of a state when a leader must make difficult decisions that may not please everyone but are necessary to protect the collective interest of the people.

In my opinion, one of those defining moments in Bauchi State was the determined effort by the administration of M.A. Abubakar to confront payroll irregularities and strengthen accountability within the public service.

I have always believed that corruption is not only about stealing public money. It is also about denying citizens the opportunities they rightfully deserve.

Whenever public resources are diverted through fraudulent practices, it is the ordinary people who pay the price.

The unemployed graduate remains unemployed, the child studies in an inadequate classroom, and the struggling family continues to hope for opportunities that never come.

For this reason, I consider M.A. Abubakar to be an excavator of ghost workers.

His administration became widely associated with efforts to identify irregularities within the civil service and to ensure that public funds were directed toward genuine workers rather than fictitious names on government payrolls.

That was not merely an administrative exercise; it was a courageous step toward restoring discipline and accountability in government.

Beyond payroll reforms, I also believe that every public contract should produce visible results for the people.

A contract is not just a financial transaction; it is a promise made to the citizens. When a school is budgeted for, the people deserve to see that school standing.

When funds are allocated for education, the children deserve classrooms, teachers, and learning opportunities—not abandoned projects or empty records.

As citizens, we should never celebrate situations where public projects exist only on paper while communities continue to suffer.

Whenever a project fails to materialize despite public expenditure, the greatest victims are not politicians—they are the ordinary men, women, and young people whose lives could have been transformed by that investment.

Every completed school creates opportunities for teachers, administrators, cleaners, security personnel, and many others. Every abandoned school denies those same opportunities to hardworking citizens.

This is why I continue to appreciate leaders who prioritize transparency and accountability. Public office is a trust, and anyone entrusted with the resources of the people must be prepared to account for every kobo spent. Government exists to improve lives, not to enrich a privileged few.

My support for M.A. Abubakar is therefore not based on politics alone.

It is based on my belief that leadership should be courageous enough to challenge systems that waste public resources and bold enough to promote accountability, even when doing so attracts criticism.

Bauchi State deserves a government where every salary is earned by a genuine worker, every contract results in a completed project, and every public institution exists to serve the people.

We deserve a system where transparency replaces secrecy, accountability replaces impunity, and service replaces selfishness.

As I reflect on the future of our dear state, I remain convinced that the fight against corruption should never be selective or seasonal.

It must be continuous, fair, and uncompromising. That is the only way we can build a Bauchi State where our children inherit institutions founded on honesty, justice, and responsible leadership.

MAAGM UNVEILING AND INAUGURATION CEREMONY: BUILDING A GRASSROOTS FORCE FOR VICTORY

On 6th June, 2026, the M.A Abubakar Grassroots Movement (MAAGM) successfully unveiled its Movement and inaugurated Zonal Vice Chairmen, Local Government Coordinators, and other key officials at a well-attended ceremony in Bauchi.

The primary objective of MAAGM is to mobilize, organize, and engage supporters at the grassroots level to secure the victory of His Excellency, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN, APC Gubernatorial Flag Bearer, in the 2027 Bauchi State Governorship Election.

The overwhelming turnout and support received at the event demonstrate that the Movement is gaining momentum across the State and strengthening its structures from the State level down to the Wards and Polling Units.

We therefore call on youths, women, professionals, community leaders, and all supporters of our shared vision to join this growing movement. Our doors remain open to all who are committed to building a strong grassroots network capable of delivering success in 2027.
