First time I really failed in school was in 200 level in Medschool. It was the first time I ever got depressed too.

From primary to secondary school, I only knew how to come first in class or at least be among the top ten.

I wrote JAMB UTME once, cleared my 100 level like child’s play…

But then came 200 level, where Medschool proper began.

I read and read and read…but the results? Let’s just say I couldn’t tell my parents about them.

Till date, I still believe one of the times I studied the hardest and buried my head in my books the most was in that year two class.

But how do you explain that someone does night class six times a week (i.e almost everyday apart from Saturdays), attends classes and reads his textbooks, yet still had scores like 25%, 39% etc.

How did someone who used to be top of the class in highschool become one with the least score in Medschool?

I figured our what the problem was, thanks to God and to the mentors I now had that year, especially Dr Glory Joseph.

What I lacked that year wasn’t hard work, but smart work. I was studying like a scalar quantity then —with magnitude, but no direction.

Now I understand better, that each new level you enter in your academic journey —or in life generally— you should seek counsel from wise ones who have gone through that path.

It now makes sense to me that indeed “in a multitude of counselors, there is safety.

So this law is what is popularly called THE LAW OF
CAUSE AND EFFECT.

For those into sciences, if you do not believe in this law,then you are not a scientist... you be werey?

I want you to write this out boldly: EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS ON EARTH HAS A CAUSE!

So if everything has a cause, then success in any field has a cause too...

POEM TITLE: MERCY

My life seems like a bed of roses but without petals.
I have thorns in my flesh hurting me like tiny metals.
Just did a 360° scan of the environment around me.
And asked myself "Is this really where I'm supposed to be?!"😕

[No, no, no!]

Wait. So how on earth did I get here???
How did I end in the middle of nowhere??
Somebody talk to me 'cause this is serious!
Somebody help me, Oh Lord Jesus!🥺

[It's my fault....]

You told me to walk this way
But I ran the other.
You told me to meet Mr. A
But I met another.☹️

One time while praying to you,
you asked me to leave this sister.
But I walked out on you!
And she and I became even closer.💔

That's how I wasted time day after day.
Because you gave me an instruction,
But I left it to do things my own way;
A lifestyle that only leads to destruction.🤦

Been doing good but not been doing right.
It's all my fault my life is this messy.
But hear my heart cry Lord tonight;
Dear dad, please show me mercy.😔

POEM TITLE: E-MOTIONS 1

Your emotions...

It's crazy how those things work.
Sometimes they speed up your motion,
Other times they make you unable to walk.
They act as catalysts to our locomotion.

One time they are up
and you feel all "high".
Then when they eventually drop,
it feels as if you're gonna die.

Your emotions...

Life would be boring without them.
But sometimes when you're sad,
you just feel like getting rid of them!
But trust me dear, that idea is bad!

What makes a see-saw interesting
is that it goes up and down.
What keeps the mary-go-round running
is its ability to go round and round.

Your emotions...

You'll forever have them within you.
You'd be incomplete without those portions.
They're part of what makes you YOU!
So get a hold of those emotions!

Sometimes they do get out of control,
like when you don't know what to feel.
But here's a hack: if they overwhelm you,
you can choose to freeze and just stay still.

Twilight Is The Saddest Part Of My Day
Because It Brings Back Memories Of You.
It Makes Me Remember The Good Old Days
When I Used To Spend All Evening With You.

But You Are Gone Now.
Seems Like A Dream, But It's True.
And I Wish That Somehow
You'd Come Back 'Cause I Miss You!

But In Life, Like You Taught Me,
You Don't Always Get What You Want.
The Creator Wrote Everyone's Story
And This One Is What I Got.

But This Is Not The End Of The Story.
One Sad Event Doesn't Mean I Should Have A Sad Life.
And Over There Where You Are Resting In Glory,
I Know You'll Love Me To Move On With My Life.

So I'll Live My Best Life Now While It's Still Day
'Cause I Know The Twilight Of My Life Is Coming.
It Might Be Quick, It Might Delay
But I Know One Day, Mr. Death Will Come Knocking.

But By Then, I Will Be Ready
And I'll Open That Door Honourably.
Infact I'll Be Happy 'Cause Finally
