Hotel Worker Confesses to ₦17.6m Fraud, Admits Diverting Guest Payments Over Five Years

A staff member of Davies Hotel has allegedly confessed to a long-running fraud scheme involving the diversion of guest payments, with a total of ₦17.6 million traced to his personal account.

In a statement, the suspect admitted to secretly collecting payments for hotel rooms and transferring the funds into his own account over a period of five years.

“I’ve been stealing from Davies Hotel, selling rooms, collecting money from guests and transferring it to my account… I’ve been the one majorly doing it for the past five years,” he reportedly said.

He further alleged that the scheme involved multiple staff members, claiming that proceeds were shared among collaborators.

“When we get the money, I and Mr. Wale take the lion’s share, and Mr. Salami also takes part… we share the remaining with others,” he added, alleging wider involvement within the hotel staff.

The suspect also claimed that several members of the housekeeping department were aware of the operation.

“I’ve built a house from it, and from May last year to June this year, a total of ₦17.6 million passed through my account,” he stated.

Police Rescue Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons, Kill Two Suspects 

The Nigeria Police Force has rescued Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, alive after they were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State. 

Naija News reports that the victims were rescued during a late-night operation carried out around 7:30 pm on Saturday, June 6, 2026. 

Mrs John-Paul is the younger sister of a former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu. 

A police source who spoke with Channels TV said two suspected kidnappers were killed during a gun duel with operatives. 

Two fi****ms were also reportedly recovered from the gang.
