Individual training activities include the Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP), and Undergraduate Internships.

We successfully concluded our three-day Data Visualization and Dashboard Creation Using Power BI training, held from Wednesday to Friday last week.

Beyond the lectures, which focused on sharing skills in data analysis, visualization, and dashboard creation using Power BI, participants took part in hands-on practical exercises, giving them the opportunity to apply what they learned and put their new knowledge into practice.

It was three days of learning, engagement, and practical experience, and we are excited to see participants apply these skills in their various fields for better research and project analysis and management.

Over the past two days, we have been facilitating a three-day training on Data Visualization and Dashboard Creation Using Power BI, with over 70 participants in attendance.

Yesterday, the participants were introduced to Power BI, covering the Power BI Desktop workspace and helping them understand the tools and features that would form the foundation for the practical sessions ahead. The session also included hands-on activities that allowed participants to begin applying what they learned.

The training continued today with a fully practical session. Participants worked directly with their datasets, learning how to transform their data, and creating interactive visualizations -- moving from raw data towards meaningful and effective visual representations.

Facilitated by Mr. Solomon Ntukidem and Ms. Daniella Ojekere of IITA’s Data Research Management Unit, the training has been a blend of technical knowledge, practical application, and active participation.

With two productive days behind us, we look forward to the final day of learning, exploration, and hands-on dashboard creation.

We recently concluded this year's two-day IITA–Rome Business School Nigeria Agribusiness Bootcamp, designed to give the students of the Executive Master in Agribusiness Management program practical insights into the opportunities, innovations, technologies, and business models shaping Nigeria’s agribusiness sector.

Held on the 6th and 7th of August 2026 at IITA, Ibadan, the bootcamp explored key areas across the agribusiness value chain, including seed systems, circular bioeconomy, soybean agribusiness, the dairy industry, agro-pharmaceutical innovation, Aflasafe technology, and food yam production. Participants also gained real-world perspectives from agripreneur Farmer Kola Adeniji of Niji Group

The learning extended beyond the classroom through visits to IITA’s Black Soldier Fly Research Center, yam hydroponics facility, Breeding Unit, and other facilities across the campus, providing participants with practical exposure to how , technology, and innovation are driving the future of .

We are always delighted to contribute to learning experiences that connect emerging agribusiness leaders with the knowledge, , and opportunities needed to build a more innovative and sustainable agricultural sector.

We recently concluded a two-day IITA Graduate Research Fellows' Workshop on the Development of Statements of Purpose ( ), helping our Master's and PhD fellows build the skills to develop stronger applications for scholarships, fellowships, grants, and other opportunities that advance their research careers.

Facilitated by Dr. Lava Kumar and Dr. Titilayo Falade, the workshop guided participants through the fundamentals of writing impactful , covering structure, storytelling, clarity, and the elements that make applications stand out.

Building on the technical sessions, the workshop featured an engaging panel discussion with researchers who have successfully secured scholarships, fellowships, and research grants, including alumni of the IITA IARSAF. Their practical insights, coupled with an interactive question-and-answer session, gave participants valuable guidance on preparing stronger and more competitive applications.

We look forward to seeing the opportunities that emerge from this investment in their future.

In collaboration with the Yam Breeding Program of IITA, we are currently facilitating a one-week yam breeding training in — an initiative sponsored by the Cross River State Government under the leadership of Senator (Dr.) Prince Bassey Edet Otu, through the Cross River State Ministry of Agriculture, headed by the Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture and Irrigation Development, Hon. Johnson Andiambey Ebokpo.

Participants are strategically selected extension agents, Local Government agriculture leads, and smallholder farmers, who will be entrusted with disseminating this knowledge at the community level.

Leading the IITA team, Dr. Olugboyega Pelemo, Senior Research and Outreach Associate at IITA, shares an overview of the training and its expected impact.

Yesterday, hundreds of participants from across joined us for an engaging session on what it takes to build viable agribusiness ventures in today’s evolving agricultural landscape.

The training explored how modern innovations and emerging technologies are reshaping , while also guiding participants on how agriculture can be approached as a structured and profitable enterprise. The conversation extended beyond production to critical areas such as financing opportunities and the role of insurance in protecting .

The interactive nature of the training allowed participants to engage directly with the facilitators, ask context-specific questions, and gain guidance relevant to their individual interests and business ideas.

We are proud of our contributions to creating learning platforms that equip individuals with the knowledge and confidence to pursue opportunities within the agricultural sector.

Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere.

At the Capacity Development Office of the , this day also reminds us why our work matters. Across communities, we have seen how access to knowledge, skills, and opportunity can transform lives.

Through initiatives such as , , and the , we have worked with thousands of women across communities, equipping them with practical skills and enterprise knowledge across agricultural value chains, including cassava and rice production, palm oil processing, and fish farming.

Graduate Research Fellowship Opportunity (MSc in Soil Science)

IITA is inviting applications from Liberian nationals for a fully funded MSc Graduate Research Fellowship in Soil Science under the Soils4Liberia Project.
