Subsidy is such a weird concept, a destructive one when placed at the consumption end of things. During the occupy Nigeria protests, I seemed mad as I insisted that the government was right (I didn’t have to like GEJ to know this).

The Nigerian Stock Exchange maintains an Investo​rs' Protection Fund in line with part XIV of the Investment and Securities Act 2007, (CAP 124, LFN, 2004) (“ISA”) that requires The Nigerian Stock Exchange to establish and maintain an investor protection fund.​



The purpose of the fund is to compensate investors with genuine claims of pecuniary loss against dealing member firms

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alh. Lai Mohammed, this week said, “The cost of fuel subsidy is too high and unsustainable. From 2006 to 2019, fuel subsidy gulped N10.413trillion. That is an average of N743.8 billion per annum.

It's rather amazing how he has gone from strong critic over subsidy removal to being an advocate.

But that's what politicians are really. It's up to us to look out for our own best interests
