Happy Independence Nigeria!

Happy New Month!

Welcome to October Favour!

My name is Blessing Onwuamah (PhD) and I run BOYDI.

Blessing Onwuamah Youth Development Initiative (BOYDI) is a youth development organization committed to helping young people build strong identities, develop emotional and social competence, and become equipped for purposeful futures. We provide counselling, mentorship, education, skills development, and structured developmental programmes, with particular attention to young people affected by father absence.

Recognising the important role of families in youth outcomes, BOYDI also equips fathers to become more present and intentional and empowers women and other relevant stakeholders to contribute to healthier families and communities. Through partnerships with schools, tertiary institutions, churches, organisations, and communities, we work to strengthen individuals, families, and ultimately the next generation.

Let’s get to know you and what you do too!

Sometimes we underestimate the power of books and reading/listening to them.

I attended a webinar last week where someone in my field spoke extensively about bibliotherapy and I couldn’t but agree with her because many times, books were therapeutic for me.

For some people, it could be a clean romance novel that makes them feel loved again.
For another, it a book that will cure them of low self esteem and boost their confidence.
For another, it could be a book on business that will remove the obstacle they have been thinking is spiritual.
For some it would be books that will break them out of the fear of marriage, progress and becoming better.
Whatever the case, bibliotherapy is highly impactful. I am a recipient of the benefits.

Stepping into a new week today, I recommend that you read books. Technology has made it easier, it can be read to you with apps like ReadEra and the likes. And you can read on the go while doing something routine.

Take advantage of them and step into healing and wholeness. That’s a rich life.

Have a blessed week!
