Who your teenager is becoming is a weightier matter than what they are becoming.
Dear daddies, listen to who they name as their 'role model' and guide them to safety if that is not a positive model with logical reasons why that person should not be their role model because of who they are.

The Presence Fathers Think They’re Giving versus The Presence Teenagers/Young Adults Actually Need.
Many young people have fathers… but still feel fatherless!
Are you one of the fathers in that category? If your teenager or young adult were to write anonymously about you, what would they say about your relationship with them and your impact on their lives?
That is why fathers must be very intentional about their relationship with their young adults, because a passive relationship says something. A fee-paying-only relationship also says something. The shouting-or-glaring reaction relationship also says something.
A few teaser questions for you, dear daddy.
Can they run ideas by you?
Can they discuss their crush with you?
Can they disclose their emotional struggles to you?
Can they do activities with you on their own accord?
Can they ask you puberty questions?
Can they introduce their friends to you on their own
Can they tell you their friend's opinions on life?
If your answer to most of these questions is NO, you can begin building a relationship with them now.
If your answer to most of the questions is YES, I truly congratulate you. Please keep showing up for them.
Absence is not always physical. Emotional distance is more common.

Most children tell their secrets to their mothers so fathers must step up and become emotionally safe.
It is also beneficial for you beyond your teenager if they can confide in you.
It is who they confide in that will guide them.
Let that person be you. Not their peers.
