Okota Secondary School is an institution of learning located in Okota rd, Okota, Oshodi-Isolo, Lagos The first principal of the school, Mr. C. S.
Okota Secondary School or OSS as it is fondly called, has a student population of approximately 600. It was founded in 1982 by the then executive governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande. Okuweh was tasked with the responsibility, among other things, of establishing the mission statement and motto of the school. One of the major initial challenge...es of the school was finding a permanent lo
cation. It had hitherto had to share the same space with Okota High School. However, in 1986, the then military governor of Lagos State, Governor Mudashiru, allocated to it what has become its permanent howbeit small location. Its entire complex comprises of only three adjacent blocks of two story buildings each. Consequently, expansion of the school is almost an impossible and impracticable task. Another major challenge the school has had in the years has been the quality of learning available within its confines. Although the school has fared remarkably well when compared with other Lagos State schools of similar size and circumstances, a lot still needs to be done if it must rise to the popularity of Lagos State schools such St. Finbar's College and Igbobi College. This will require hiring and training competent teachers as well as instilling a culture of handwork among its student population. In spite of all these challenges, which includes funding, it has sufficiently risen above them all. Today, there are hundreds of graduates from the school who have gone ahead to attend higher institutions of learning both locally and abroad. There are indications that it will continue to surmount its challenges in the years ahead.
