“Sports is the only global idiom”. Sports is more than just physical activity. Like music, it is something that happens in just about every country in the world and people can understand it without needing to speak another language. It is very important in helping us understand how others live and that we are all part of one human race. It provides an arena for triumph if handled rightly, and failure, if handled wrongly. Endeavour, achievement and team work that is easily understood in all cultures. It appeals directly to individuals and groups of people across the world. It helps people grow from grass to grace (stardom). SOCCER
Soccer is played at least in 178 countries. It is the most popular game in the world, but soccer is not just game, it brings people together who have been torn apart by conflict or the impact of HIV/AIDS. Sports generally can be used to help different groups to know each other and break down barriers. It is a unifying force. Divine royals is also a jet-age project founded on the strict tenets of discipline, dedication, determination and fear of God with a view of producing future, good and quality leaders, talented soccer players, administrators and role models to other youths that are disadvantaged and less privileged. OTHER OBJECTIVES
1. Taking kids and adolescents away from social vices and juvenile delinquency organizing sports competition/festivals, leadership and religious seminars.
2. Promoting constructive social responsibility to the youth through the tool of soccer and young leaders programme.
3. Providing source of unity and interactions among otherwise belligerent youths in the society. Develop their self-confidence and belief that with God, all things are possible.
4.Bringing together the less privileged from broken homes, school dropouts, abandoned children, destitute, physically challenged, drug addicts, HIV/AIDS victims through seminars/workshops and sport competition, cultural/festival,
thereby providing social interaction and hope their strengthening their links, promote fair play and gender equity.
5. Creating a means towards the end of self-reliance and thereby laying foundation for their financial, economic, material and structural buoyancy in future. Cultural Exhibition
6. Vocation: the kids are being introduced to different trades like fashion design, photography/video coverage technology, IT world, hair dressing, etc.
7. Laying a sound basis for good citizenship. STRUCTURE
The organization is non-political, non-denominational, non-governmental and non-profit making organization with several social and humanitarian motives and orientation. The social angles and community relevance of Divine Royals are highlighted in the method of the recruitment of its members with concentration on the less privileged, orphans and disadvantaged in the society. The management of DivineRoyals consists of the Founder/President, Vice President, Welfare Director, Team Manager, Head of Administration. The organization's president/CEO/Project Cordinator Mr. Oscar Ezinwa Emmanuel, is also the Soccer Team Manager of the team and has held numerous posts at various levels of youths, social and sports development in Nigeria – see his attached profile. Divine Royals is specially established to cater for children from poor background, school dropouts, motherless, orphans, drug addicts as well as children from political, social, environmental and war disaster areas (victims and refugees). The social orientation is based on the fact that the founder, Mr. Oscar Ezinwa Emmanuel is from similar background, having being orphaned at the age of seven, a victim of school dropout as a result of loss of parents at a tender age. MEMBERSHIP
The members have risen from 50 in 2004 to 178 in 2012. This tremendous increase in membership is a result of the public awareness its programmes and seminars have created, and the brilliant performances of the soccer teams in various competitions they participated over the years. We have also
established a branch in Accra-Ghana. Our success briefly summarized below shows that Divine Royals has trained well over 40 members in the Dreams +
Teams young leaders course and out of school hour project organized by British Council-Community Action through Sports (CATS) project who are DRI President, Some teachers & young leaders Addressing team after training today developing young leaders and global citizens through sports and cross cultural awareness.It is based in UK and works with British Council in conjunction with Youth Sports Trust.
·Won over 15 trophies in both female and male soccer teams since 2004.
·Participating in National Soccer League in Nigeria. 10 female and 15 male members trained for soccer refereeing respectively. 20 for English FA
Soccer coaching level. One (1) course and ten male members for soccer tournament organizing and 10 members for environmental project.
·Organized seminars on grassroots sports administration, competition, leadership training and environmental protection for 95 youth's leaders drawn other youth clubs in Lagos.
·HIV/AIDS awareness campaign and production at HIV/AIDS song title “ AIDS is real”
·Organized annual summer/holidays youth soccer tournament for 37 youth soccer teams representing
36 states plus the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria held in Nigeria. FUNDING
Since the inception of the organization, the founder has single-handedly
funded all the programmes. In view of this, we are now requesting for international partnership, assistance, sponsorship and donations to see that this lofty project is sustained.
