Welcome ISO/IEC 27007 publication‎

To continue providing us with the products and services that we expect, businesses will handle increasingly large amounts of data. The security of this information is a major concern to consumers and companies alike fuelled by a number of high-profile cyberattacks.

The havoc caused by such attacks runs from celebrities embarrassed by careless photos, to the loss of medical records, to ransom threats amounting to millions that have hit even the most powerful corporations.

Where such data contains personal, financial or medical information, companies have both a moral and legal obligation to keep it safe from cyber criminals. That’s where International Standards like the ISO/IEC 27000 family come in, helping organizations manage the security of assets such as financial information, intellectual property, employee details or information entrusted to them by third parties.

ISO/IEC 27001 is the best-known standard in the family providing requirements for an information security management system (ISMS).It’s an International Standard to which an organization can be certified, although certification is optional.

For the person charged with auditing a particular company it can be a complex process. Likewise, getting ready for a smooth audit requires preparation and attention to detail. That’s precisely why ISO/IEC 27007 Information technology —Security techniques — Guidelines for information security management systems auditing exists. It helps both parties thoroughly prepare by providing clear guidance. First published in 2011, ISO/IEC 27007 has now been updated to align it to ISO/IEC 27001:2013.

It provides guidance on the management of an information security management system (ISMS) audit programme, the conduct of internal and external ISMS audits in accordance with ISO/IEC 27001, and the competence and evaluation of ISMS auditors. Additionally, it provides extensive guidance for auditing all requirements stated in ISO/IEC 27001. It’s intended to be used in conjunction with the guidance contained in ISO 19011:2011, and follows the same structure as that International Standard.

ISO/IEC 27007 bring benefits to any type of business and is designed to be applicable for all users, including small and medium sized organizations.

How does risk assessment work
Each work place will have its own risk assessment
Before risk assessment done the difference between risk and Hazard must be known
Hazard: Anything that cause harm such as Electricity, chemical, hazardous substance and noises are potential hazards
Risk: Likelihood that damage, ill health, loss or injury will be cause by hazard and how severe the outcome may be

When carrying out risk assessment there are recommended guidelines
Identify the hazard
Decide who might be harm and how
Evaluate the risk and decide on the precaution
Review the risk assessments and make amendment if need be

03/10/2017

Risk Assessment
It is a way of determining risk and danger in work place
Risk assessment include analysing possible hazard that could occur within work place and providing solution in a safe manner
If hazard can not be avoid in a safe way, then the risk assessment will say activity shouldn’t be carried out

How ISO 9001:2008 works?

Here's how it works. You decide that you need to develop a quality management system that complies with the ISO 9001 requirements.
That's your mission. You choose to follow
this path because you feel the need to control or improve the quality of your products and services, to reduce the costs associated with poor quality, or to become more competitive.
Or, you choose this path simply because your customers expect you to do so or because a governmental body has made it mandatory.
You then develop a quality management system that meets the requirements specified by ISO 9001.

But how do you develop such a quality management
system?
There are at least two approaches. You can either
do a gap analysis or
follow a detailed quality management system development plan.

If you've already got a functioning quality management
system, we suggest that you carry out a gap analysis.

A gap analysis will tell you exactly what you need to do to meet the ISO 9001 standard. It will help you to identify the gaps that exist between the ISO 9001 standard and your organization's processes. Once you know where the gaps are, you can take steps to fill your gaps. By following this incremental approach, you will not only comply with the ISO 9001 standard, but you will also improve the overall effectiveness of your organization's quality management system.

A gap analysis will also help you to figure out how
much time it will take and how much it will cost to bring your QMS into compliance with the ISO 9001 standard.

However, if you don't have a quality management system or you're starting from scratch, we suggest that you use an ISO 9001 process-based QMS development plan to develop your quality management system.

Once your QMS has been fully developed and implemented, you may wish to carry out an internal compliance audit to ensure that it complies with the ISO 9001 2008 requirements.

Once you're sure that your QMS is fully compliant, you're ready to ask a registrar (certification body) to audit the effectiveness of your QMS.

If your auditors like what they see, they will certify that your QMS has met ISO's requirements.

You can’t smell it, taste it or see it, but it can be deadly. Carbon monoxide – sometimes referred to as the “silent killer” – prevents oxygen from going into the body and can result in death in a short period of time, Felaj Consulting and Associate affirm. But how does carbon monoxide form, and when are workers at risk?

Carbon monoxide is predominantly produced through incomplete combustion of carbon-containing materials, according to NIOSH. “Incomplete combustion occurs when insufficient oxygen is used in the fuel (hydrocarbon) burning process,” NIOSH states, adding that, consequently, “more carbon monoxide, in preference to carbon dioxide, is emitted.”

Carbon monoxide can come from vehicle exhaust, fuel-burning furnaces, small gasoline-powered engines, portable gasoline-powered generators, forklifts, propane-powered heaters and more. Because of this, never operate these devices in small, enclosed or unventilated places such as garages or tented-off areas, or inside homes.

Signs of danger
It’s important to know the warning signs of CO poisoning. FC&A recommends paying attention to flu-like symptoms, including headache, dizziness, confusion, fatigue and feeling extremely nauseated – especially if more than one worker is experiencing these signs. To help protect workers, FC&A offers these tips:

Find out from your employer whether your workplace is in compliance with OSHA’s CO permissible exposure limit.
Carefully follow the instructions and warning labels on all fuel-powered tools and generators.
Stay cognizant of ventilation issues, especially when working indoors.
If you believe a worker may be experiencing CO-poisoning symptoms, move him or her outside immediately, and alert your manager.
Never ignore CO poisoning symptoms. Get to an emergency room or call f you or your co-workers feel sick. “Carbon monoxide poisoning can be determined by a quick blood test done soon after exposure,” FC&A adding that your chances of recovery are better if you’re treated quickly

In ISO Management System...We don't build the business we build the the people and the people build the business.
The quality of service delivery or quality of products rest on the shoulder of the people and their processes

When things don't work as they should it often means that standards are absent. But when ISO standards are applied, life is just so much richer. Agree?

Do you have a hard time getting support for your ergonomics process? Perhaps this is because the other leaders around you have bought into the myth that ergonomics has to be expensive. Let’s help them with that.
By now, you’re probably aware of the well documented benefits of ergonomics.
You’re ready to take action. You want to get started and take advantage of the ergonomics opportunity for your company. Most importantly, you know that an effective ergonomics process will be great for your people.
But then, somewhere along the line, your plan to take advantage of the ergonomics opportunity was squelched by the misinformed idea that ergonomics is expensive and there just aren’t enough funds in the budget to get started right now.
So now what?
Well, your next move is to make a case for the value of ergonomics.
Is ergonomics expensive?
Ergonomics isn’t about fancy, expensive equipment. Ergonomics is not about the latest fads and trends that seem “cool” or what the trendy companies are doing. Beware of the marketing hype – there is a whole cadre of supposedly “ergonomic” products out there that aren’t based on science.

The perception that ergonomics is expensive misses the mark. It’s about the value, not the cost. The key is to communicate the value of the ergonomics return on investment over and over and over again. By making continual improvements to your workplace and documenting the value created, you’re building up a dividend of trust, goodwill and money for your ergonomics process.‎

Why an Ergonomics Program Makes Good Business Sense!

According to Safety Management system good ergonomics programs are always cost effective – they save more than they cost, and many studies have shown this. He writes that, “when ergonomics is an integral part of basic job and workplace design and not an afterthought, it’s no more expensive to choose a good ergonomic design for a workplace than to choose a bad design. The difference isn’t ergonomics, it’s education.
