AFRAID TO START CREATING? Do These 5 Things First
Starting can feel scary.
“What if I’m not talented?”
“What if I fail?”
“What if mine isn’t good enough?”
Before you quit in your head, do these 5 things first:
1️⃣ Start small — not big.
Don’t aim for perfection. Aim for practice.
Simple projects build real confidence.
2️⃣ Learn the basics properly.
Confidence doesn’t come from hype.
It comes from understanding foundations.
3️⃣ Give yourself permission to be a beginner.
Every skilled creative you admire once made messy first attempts.
4️⃣ Stop comparing your Day 1 to someone’s Year 5.
Comparison kills courage faster than failure ever will.
5️⃣ Join beginner-safe learning spaces.
This is important.
You grow faster when you’re learning in a space that:
👉Explains things step-by-step
👉Doesn’t shame mistakes
👉Makes room for questions
👉Is built for beginners, not experts
And that’s exactly why I created my Free Beginner Creative Class.
Inside, I teach simple, practical Ankara projects like:
• Reversible hair bonnet
• Turban cap / headwrap
• Ankara throw pillow
• Easy starter crafts
No pressure.
No overwhelming jargon.
Just structured, beginner-friendly guidance to help you start confidently.
Because fear reduces when clarity increases.
If creating has been on your mind for a while,
This might be your sign to stop overthinking and start learning.

A creative sells more than a product.
They sell their talent —built through practice.
Their expertise —sharpened by mistakes and lessons.
Their time — spent learning what works.
Their knowledge — so you don’t have to figure everything out alone.
When you buy from a creative, you’re paying for more than the finished piece.
You’re paying for the skill, process, and growth behind it.
And if you’re on the other side — A beginner creative wondering where to start — This is your reminder: you don’t need to know everything to begin.
That’s why I created a free 1-day class where I break down the basics:
👉 Reversible hair bonnet
👉 Head wraps (turban cap)
👉 Ankara throw pillow
👉 Simple Ankara craft projects
No long talk.
No overwhelm.
Just clear, beginner-friendly lessons you can start with immediately.
Because every skilled creative you admire today once started with the basics.

Let’s clear this up once and for all:
Most creatives didn’t start with talent.
They started with consistency, structure, and simple lessons.
Here’s what actually matters 👇🏽
1. Consistency beats talent every time
Doing a little regularly will take you further than waiting for motivation or “inspiration.”
Five minutes of practice daily builds more skill than one perfect day a month.
2. Structure keeps you from feeling lost
Beginners don’t fail because they can’t learn.
They fail because they don’t know what to learn first.
A clear, step-by-step path removes confusion and overwhelm.
3. Simple projects build real confidence
You don’t grow by jumping into complex designs.
You grow by completing small, achievable projects that teach the basics properly.
4. Beginner-friendly teaching makes all the difference
Learning from content made for experts will frustrate you.
When lessons are broken down for beginners, your hands and mind catch up faster.
5. Progress matters more than perfection
Messy first attempts are part of the process.
The goal isn’t perfection—it’s improvement.
If you’ve been waiting to “feel talented” before starting, this is your sign to stop waiting.
I created a FREE beginner class that focuses on:
👉 Clear structure
👉 Simple Ankara craft projects
👉 Easy-to-follow lessons you can practice immediately
No pressure. No long commitments.
Just a supportive place to start.

How to Know Which Creative Skill Is Right for You as a Beginner
One mistake many beginners make is jumping into a creative skill because it’s trending… not because it fits them.
Before you choose what to learn, ask yourself these simple questions 👇🏽
1. What do you naturally enjoy doing with your hands?
Do you enjoy folding fabrics, styling, sewing, or decorating?
Your interest is often the first clue to your creative direction.
2. How much time can you realistically commit?
Some skills require long practice hours.
Others—like basic crafts and headwraps—can be learned and practiced in short sessions.
Start with what fits your current lifestyle.
3. What resources do you already have?
You don’t need everything to begin, but starting with what’s around you helps.
If you already have Ankara fabrics or simple tools, that’s a sign of where to start.
4. Do you prefer quick wins or long-term mastery?
If you’re the type that needs small results to stay motivated, begin with simple, practical projects that give you confidence fast.
5. What problem do you want your skill to solve?
Is it self-expression?
A side income?
Creating gifts?
Understanding why you want the skill helps you choose wisely.
Start simple. Grow intentionally.
You don’t need to have everything figured out today.
Your first skill is just a doorway—not a lifetime decision.
And if Ankara crafts are on your mind, start with the basics in my FREE class where I teach beginner-friendly projects step by step.
No overwhelm. No guesswork.
Just a simple place to begin.

“Madam, what is this you’re creating?”
“What’s the name of this material?”
“How do they even do this?”
These were the questions people asked me when I started my creative journey.
To the on-lookers, everything looked like magic.
Neat finishes. Confident hands. Finished pieces that sparked curiosity.
But the truth is — it wasn’t magic.
It was starting.
What most people don’t realize is that every skilled creative they admire today once stood exactly where the bystanders are standing now: watching, wondering, postponing.
It’s easy to clap for people building.
It’s easy to ask questions from the sidelines.
But there’s a quiet difference between those who admire creativity and those who answer the nudge to try.
Starting as a creative changes something in you.
You stop seeing things as “impossible” and start seeing steps.
You stop asking “How do they do it?” and begin asking “What can I learn first?”
And that first step is rarely big.
It’s often simple, basic, and a little messy.
But it’s powerful — because it moves you from spectator to participant.
If you’ve been watching others build and thinking, “I wish I could do something like this” —maybe that thought isn’t random.
Maybe it’s an invitation.
That’s why I’m big on beginners having a gentle place to start — somewhere you can touch the basics, follow along, and see for yourself that it’s not magic after all.
If you’re ready to stop watching and start trying, comment “START”or click the link in my bio and I’ll point you in the right direction.
P.S: I made these Ankara bags and slippers for my birthday as far back as 2015

What I Wish I Knew Before Starting My Creative Journey
When I started out, I thought creativity meant big ideas, expensive tools, and instant perfection.
I was wrong.
Here are the lessons I wish someone sat me down to teach me early 👇🏽
1. Starting small is not a weakness
I wanted to jump into complex designs immediately.
But real growth came when I allowed myself to start with simple pieces—basic stitches, basic wraps, basic crafts.
Small starts build strong foundations.
2. The basics will take you further than trends
Trends come and go.
But understanding fabric handling, measurements, finishing, and neatness?
That’s what makes your work look “professional” even when it’s simple.
3. Practice beats talent every single time
I didn’t improve by watching endlessly.
I improved by doing—cutting, folding, sewing, tying… even when it wasn’t perfect.
Simple projects done repeatedly sharpen your hands and confidence.
4. You don’t need everything to begin
I delayed myself waiting for the “right” tools.
Truth? Most skills can be learned with what you already have.
Upgrade later. Start now.
5. Learning is easier when someone breaks it down
Once I stopped trying to figure everything out alone and learned step-by-step, things finally clicked.
That’s exactly why I'm hosting a FREE 1-DAY CLASS where I teach:
👉 Basic Ankara craft
👉 Headwraps (turban cap)
👉 Reversible hair bonnet
👉 Ankara throw pillow
No pressure. Just simple, beginner-friendly lessons you can practice immediately.
If you’re at the “I want to start but I don’t know how” stage, this class is for you.
