Real Madrid to take legal action over Cristiano Ronaldo NDA claim

Oct 11, 2018

Real Madrid are to take legal action against a Portuguese newspaper that suggested the club pressurised Cristiano Ronaldo into seeking a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with Kathryn Mayorga.

Ms Mayorga has accused Ronaldo, who left Madrid for Juventus in July, of ra**ng her in a hotel in Las Vegas in 2009, allegations the player and his lawyers have repeatedly denied.

The story originated in German publication Der Spiegel, whose initial claims an NDA worth $375,000 had been reached was confirmed by Ronaldo's lawyer Peter Christiansen on Wednesday.

Ms Mayorga filed a lawsuit last month in an attempt to quash that agreement while Las Vegas police have re-opened an investigation.

Correio da Manha claimed on Wednesday that the NDA was put in place at Madrid's request, with the club having spent a then-world-record fee on the forward just weeks after the incident is claimed to have taken place.

Madrid insist that is "false information" and, in a statement, said: "Real Madrid CF can today announce that the club has taken legal action against the Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha for publishing categorically false information in an effort to seriously damage the image of this club.

"Real Madrid has absolutely no knowledge of any of the information that the newspaper published with regard to the player Cristiano Ronaldo, and therefore the club was unable to take action on a matter of which it had no knowledge.

"Real Madrid has demanded total rectification of the situation from the aforementioned newspaper."

Ronaldo, who previously labelled Ms Mayorga's claims "fake news" in an Instagram video, has protested his innocence and called r**e "an abominable crime".

He said on Twitter: "I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me. R**e is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in.

Ballon d'Or? Why not? – Mbappe
Oct 08, 2018

Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe would like to one day win the Ballon d'Or after his scintillating display against Lyon on Sunday.

Mbappe, 19, scored four times in 13 second-half minutes as PSG thrashed Lyon 5-0 to become the first team to begin a Ligue 1 season with nine straight wins.

The winner of the Best Young Player Award during France's successful World Cup campaign, Mbappe said the biggest individual honour – the Ballon d'Or – was something he one day wanted to win.

"The Ballon d'Or? Why not? I don't forbid anything," he said.

"I will continue to progress, to play. If it comes, it comes and if it does not come, no problem."

Mbappe – who also missed several chances against Lyon – is the youngest player in the past 45 seasons to score four goals in a single Ligue 1 game.

The star attacker was fouled as Neymar opened the scoring from the penalty spot, while the Brazilian set up Mbappe in the second half.

"He is a great player, everyone knows it," Mbappe said of Neymar.

"He had a complicated period, and here he shows that he has passed over that. He is ready to win everything."

PSG are already flying in Ligue 1, sitting eight points clear atop the table.

*Neville Blasts Man United♦ Board Over Mourinho Sack Reports😱*

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has blasted a reported decision to sack Jose Mourinho as "an absolute disgrace".

The Daily Mirror reported late on Friday that Mourinho will be replaced as manager regardless of United's result in their Premier League fixture against Newcastle United on Saturday.

Mourinho gave a short and terse news conference earlier in the day, after which Neville said the 55-year-old "looked fed up" following heavy criticism of his side's poor run of form, having won just three of their last nine games in all competitions.

Neville was enraged about the suggestion Mourinho will be forced to lead out his team at Old Trafford knowing his days in the job are numbered, accusing the United hierarchy of "playing Football Manager with the biggest club in the world".

"I think I'm furious," he said on Sky Sports after a lengthy pause. "I'm furious going back three, four years ago, when [David] Moyes was sacked and it broke the day before. Louis van Gaal was sacked the evening before a cup final [in 2016], finding out through other people.

"If this is true and Mourinho is going to walk out at Old Trafford [on Saturday] as a dead man walking, those fans will turn towards the board room like never before.

"Jose Mourinho will get the biggest support of his life tomorrow and I'll be there to give it to him. It's an absolute disgrace. Where are the values at Manchester United? This has been going on for five or six years.

"Jose Mourinho is one of the best managers in the world. I think any manager would struggle at Manchester United, with the way in which the recruitment is handled, the way in which it operates."

Guardiola in the dark over injured Mendy’s return

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admits he does not know when injury-plagued French international full-back Benjamin Mendy will be back in action after he suffered a metatarsal injury.

Mendy, who missed nine months last season after requiring surgery on a knee ligament injury, is believed to have suffered the injury in training after returning from international duty with France at the start of the month.

He has missed City’s last two games, the win over Fulham and a disappointing Champions League group-stage defeat at home by French outfit Lyon in which Fabian Delph played poorly in his left-back position.

Cristiano Ronaldo's maiden Champions League appearance for Juventus didn't exactly go to plan on Wednesday as he was sent off just 32 minutes into the the Italian side's clash with Valencia at the Mestalla.

The Portugal star tangled with defender Jeison Murillo as he looked to attack a potential ball in from Alex Sandro out on the left.

There wasn't much in the initial clash, but the Juve star made the ill-judged decision to approach the centre-back as he lay prone on the floor and thrust his hand into his face as a way of reproaching him for his play-acting.

Almost the entire Valencia squad wereimmediately up in arms, with referee Felix Brych opting to speak to his assistant before making a decision.

The decision of the linesman was clear and the German quickly produced the red card.

Ronaldo was left stunned by the decision as he saw his Champions League return literally end in tears as he struggled to control his emotions.

The Portuguese initially sat down on the pitch in disbelief before eventually making his way down the tunnel after coming to terms with the decision.

Neymar's Performance "Unacceptable"

Christophe Dugarry, former French footballer and current commentator at 'RMC Sport', criticised the Brazillian's performance against Liverpool, where he did little bar assist Mbappe's goal.

Neymar returned to the Champions League after failing to play in the return leg of the last 16 against Real Madrid last season and did so with a tight defeat at Anfield. The most expensive player in the world was not at his best, as his side lost due to a 91st minute Robert Firmino winner.

Neymar was signed by PSG to fire them to Champions League glory but, so far, the Brazil international is yet to take the big stage by storm.

The former Barcelona forward was outshone by his team-mate, Mbappe, and the former footballer and current commentator Dugarry lambasted his performance as "unacceptable".

“It has been scandalous.

“It even irritates the eyes to see what he has done. Neymar has mocked the world", said Dugarry - was was a member of France's 1998 World Cup winning squad.
