One thing I have learnt from that Naughty Corner post is that if you put 100 parents in one room, you'll probably get 100 different opinions on discipline. ππ
And honestly, I have enjoyed reading the comments.
I've laughed, learnt a few things, agreed with some people, disagreed with others, and even picked up some useful ideas from parents who shared what works in their homes.
But let me quickly clarify something because some people think we don't flog our son and we are just doing gentle parenting. πWe flog our son when necessary(like wotowoto). We are not raising a child without consequences. The Naughty Corner is simply ONE of the methods we use.
I also saw comments saying, "My child will leave that corner after 2 seconds and start playing." π And honestly, I understand.
But discipline and boundaries are things you start teaching early. You have to be consistent and firm. Children quickly learn when there are consequences attached to their actions, and when they know there are consequences, they are more likely to think twice before disobeying.
Teach your children that every action has a consequence. Loving them doesn't mean giving in every time they cry or cancelling every punishment because they are suddenly looking innocent or crying.
And please, don't fall for emotional blackmail. Some children deserve an award for acting. ππ
Also, consequences don't have to mean emotional or mental torture. You can correct a child while still making them feel loved, safe and secure.
As for the people calling me names... π Once you make a public post, you have to be ready for both constructive criticism and pure vibes. I'll take the lessons and leave the insults.
