The ๐ก๐๐๐ซ๐ญ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐๐ซ Yan Diomandรฉ wrote to his sister, who passed away at just 15 years old โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
โI donโt even think I shed a tear the day they told me you were gone. I was in shockโ
โIt had been a few weeks since my debut with Leganรฉs. Who makes their debut at 18 years old against Real Madrid? It was crazy. It was a dreamโ
โAnd then suddenly it turned into a ๐ง๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐. Someone from home kept calling me over and over. I was annoyed. I didnโt understand why they were insisting so much. I answered, and they didnโt even soften the blow. You know how it is at home. No emotions. Justโฆโ
โYour sister is goneโ
โWhat?โ
โShe diedโ
โWhat are you talking about?โ
โSomeone put something in her drink at a party and she never woke up. Sheโs gone.โ
โYou were fifteen years oldโฆ fifteenโ
โI never got answers. I donโt know if I want to know why. Maybe it was jealousy. Maybe these are things that happen in our country. Maybe I could have protected you. I donโt know.โ
โI try to trust Godโs plan. Itโs the only thing I can do. Iโm not trying to forget you, because I know I never will. The only thing I can do is use this pain to work harder and
โIโm writing this because I canโt talk about it. Iโm writing this because I want you to know that Iโm going to make sure you keep living on. Iโm going to make sure the ๐ฐ๐ก๐จ๐ฅ๐ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ฅ๐ ๐ค๐ง๐จ๐ฐ๐ฌ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ง๐๐ฆ๐. The entire world.โ
โEverything I do on a football pitch is for youโ
โSo much has happened since the last time I saw youโฆ You wouldnโt believe it. I canโt even believe it myselfโ
โThe pitch is the only place where I still feel at home. Itโs the place where I feel at peace and where ๐ ๐๐๐ง ๐ญ๐๐ฅ๐ค ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ. I just wish you were still here so I could tell youโฆโ
โWe did it, everything you said came trueโ
โTomorrow weโre going to the World Cup. For real. Your brother is going to play for Ivory Coast, like Drogba, like Yaya, like Gervinhoโ ๐ญ๐จ๐ฎ
โI donโt even see it as a match. I see it as a stage. This is my chance to show the whole world what you saw in me. Every time I score a goal, Iโll make sure everyone knows your name. Iโll make sure no one forgets youโ
โIโm going to make your prediction come true, I swear. Even before I had real football boots, you used to tell everyone: โMy brother is going to be the best in the worldโโ
โI will prove that you were right or ๐ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐๐ข๐ ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฒ๐ข๐ง๐ โ
โYour brother,
Yanโ ๐ฅบ
