He spent 60 years on the throne and died at the age of 110/120 years old.

His actual age wasn't known but according to history he was about 50 to 60 yrs old when he became the Deji of Akureland after contesting three times from 1882, 1890 and the last time 1897 when he was finally chosen as the Deji of Akureland, he was introduced as the oldest Ọba in West Africa when Queen Elizabeth 11 came to Nigeria in 1956 at Ibadan, he was the first Ọba to use a motor car in the Old Ondo Province in 1920 and highest paid Ọba in the Province.

Three of his sons became deji after him.
