🚨 Pep Guardiola on Premier League clubs celebrating Manchester City being found guilty of the 115 charges:
🗣️ Pep Guardiola: “I have seen the celebrations. I have seen the reactions from people around the league, and honestly, I understand why they are celebrating.
“But let me tell you something.
“Football can be a very strange world.
“When you are successful, people want to bring you down. When you win, people look for an explanation. When you lose, everyone suddenly wants to tell you why you were never that good.
“Manchester City have spent years competing at the highest level. We have won titles, we have broken records, we have played in the biggest competitions.
“And now, after the verdict, of course people are going to celebrate.
“That is their right.
“But I would ask them one thing: celebrate the decision, not the suffering of the people inside this club.
“Because there are players here. There are staff here. There are people who have nothing to do with financial decisions or legal matters.
“They come to work every morning. They train. They compete. They give everything for this badge.
“And suddenly, they are being treated as though every person at Manchester City personally committed these offences.
“That is not fair.
“If the club has been found guilty and punishment comes, then we accept the consequences.
“No excuses.
“No special treatment.
“We deal with it.
“But I will never understand celebrating another club's problems as though football itself has won something.
“If tomorrow another Premier League club has a serious problem, will we all celebrate again?
“Where does it end?
“Today it is Manchester City.
“Tomorrow it could be somebody else.
“So yes, congratulations if you believe justice has been done.
“But don't confuse justice with revenge.
“Football is supposed to be competition.
“We compete against each other on the pitch.
“And when the final whistle goes, you shake hands.
“That is the football I believe in.
“If Manchester City have to face consequences, we will face them.
“But we will not be ashamed of competing, we will not erase what these players have achieved on the pitch, and we will not allow other people's celebrations to decide who we are.
“Let the authorities make their decision.
“Let the club respond.
“And then we move forward.
“Because football always moves forward.”
