Open Letter to the Borno State Government and Ministry for Youth, Sports Development & Poverty Alleviation
Subject: Call for Immediate Action on the Performance of El-Kanemi Warriors FC
To the Executive Governor of Borno State,
The Honourable Commissioner, Ministry for Youth, Sports Development & Poverty Alleviation,
And all relevant authorities,
As a concerned supporter of El-Kanemi Warriors, I am writing about the poor performance of our beloved team.
For too long, El-Kanemi Warriors have struggled in the league, fighting relegation instead of competing for honors. This is not what Borno State deserves. The problem is not the passion of the fans or the lack of talent in our state. It is a problem of leadership and technical direction.
To save the club and give Borno youths a team to be proud of, I urge the government to take these actions before next season:
1. Sack the entire technical crew, including Technical Adviser Coach Kabiru Dogo and all assistant coaches. The results show that the current setup has failed.
2. Dissolve the current board of El-Kanemi Warriors. We need fresh leadership with accountability and a winning mindset.
3. Set up an independent committee for player recruitment. This committee should select players based on merit and performance.
4. Ensure at least 50% of the squad are Borno State indigenous players. Our state has abundant football talent that should be given the chance to represent us.
El-Kanemi Warriors is our pride. With the right decisions, the club can compete, win, and make Borno proud again.
I trust that the government will act in the interest of the people and the future of our football.
Sincerely
Mohammed Mallam Bunu
Concerned El-Kanemi Warriors Supporter

The wait is over for the Nationwide League One fans, as all eyes will be on a fast start when the season-opening match kicks off on Friday April 10, 2026.
The clash between Benue-based teams Flight FC and NYSC FC at the McCarthy Stadium, Makurdi highlights NLO's stance of taking matches to remote fans, with a view to them catching a glimpse of their local boys dazzle with their raw football skills.
Dr. Olushola Ogunnowo, Chief Operating Officer of Africa's largest grassroot league shares his optimism.
“The football excitement is nearing a fever pitch, as the curtain rises for the new season opening game at the McCarthy Stadium.
"The Secretariat started the new season campaign with the rollout of the groupings, numbering 46, and an expansion of NLO activities to all states and the FCT. Next is the full fixtures that will be out in the new week.
“As you have observed, the NLO is in line with the trend, with the relaunch of its new website as part of a wider digital transformation designed to deliver a personalised and engaging experience for clubs and fans.
"Supporting us with this ongoing transformation, the NLO entered into a partnership with Zkyte Technology. The move reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation.
"However we look forward to continuing to evolve the Nationwide League One in the years to come to meet the ever-changing needs.“

Mighty Jets, City FC Bid Bye To The league As Promoted Doma Fall In Kaduna.
Mighty Jets of Jos and City FC of Abuja have been relegated to the National League One ( NLO), following the conclusion of Conference C of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL).
Both teams finished at the bottom of the table with 16 points each after playing a total of 14 games in the Conference.
Although, Mighty Jets recorded a 2-1 victory at home against Fc Basira in their Match Day 14 encounter, it was not enough to navigate them out of the relegation waters, while City FC on the other hand lost their last match of the season by 0-1 at home to Lobi Stars to confirm their relegation to the lower division.
Meanwhile, promoted Doma Fc lost their last game of the season 3-1 to Kada Warriors but that did not affect their promotion to the elite League having led the conference with 26 points at the close of the final Match Day with their closest rivals, Lobi Stars having 23 points.
The other three teams that will join Doma Fc in gaining promotion to the top flight will be known in the next two weeks when Conferences A, B and D are expected to conclude their season.
Speaking on the conclusion of Conference C, Chairman of NNL, Mr. George Aluo expressed happiness that the conference came to a successful conclusion, just as he expressed hope that the remaining conferences will produce worthy champions.
" It's a thing of joy that today we witnessed the successful conclusion of Conference C with interesting results and I'm looking forward to the successful conclusion of other conferences in the next two weeks", he stated.
