On Monday, the 30th of October 2023, the Honourable Commissioner of Education, Science, Technology & Innovation Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe handed over an eighteen (18) sitter Bus to the Principal of Borno Special School.

Engr. Wakilbe in his remarks, said he has fulfilled the promise made during his first visit to the school.
The Commissioner also promised more government intervention to support the school respectively.

In an effort to understand the transnational dimensions of violent extremism, with a view to seeking better solutions to the Boko Haram Insurgency and peace restoration in Borno State, His Excellency, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum dispatched the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof Usman Tar, to attend the British Academy Project Workshop on researching Jihadist movements in the Sahel held at the West African Research Centre (WARC), Dakar, Senegal on 26-27 October, 2023.

The workshop themed "The Sahel Crisis in Historical and Contemporary Perspective: Supporting a Conflict-Sensitive Approach Through Interdisciplinary Research" sought to trace the evolution, methods, means and linkages of jihadist organisations in the Sahel, Lake Chad Basin and North Africa.

The Workshop, convened by Prof Tony Chafer and Prof Ed Stoddard of the University of Portsmouth UK, brought together experts from Africa, Europe and Middle East to examine specific topics such as Military Practices of Sahelian Jihadist Groups; Historical Practices of Jihad in the Sahel; Historical Memory and the Practice of, and Resistance to, Jihad in the Contemporary Wider Sahel; and Governance Practices of Sahelian Jihadist Groups.

The Workshop Methodology included individual presentation; small group discussions and thematic sessions.

In his presentation titled "Mapping Jihadist Networks in the Lake Chad, Sahel and North Africa", Prof Tar traced the linkages between violent terrorist organisations in the greater Sahel Region. He assessed the ideological geographic, demographic, economic and socio-cultural factors

.. Commends Principal of Government Day Ngala for having neat and discipline students.

.. Warned Education Secretary on absenteeism of teachers at Local Education Authority runned schools.

.. Vocational Training Center Ngala to be rehabilitated and put back into use.

.. Tasked contractors to complete ongoing Higher Islamic College Gamboru.

Today, Thursday the 26th of Oct 2023, Honorable Commissioner of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe started the day with an early morning inspection of Government Day Secondary School Gamboru, where he was highly impressed particularly the discipline among students he met, also promised to address the challenges faced by the school. The Commissioner proceeded to Gamboru Central, Gamboru Ndajemina, Gamboru Bash and Ladari Primary and Junior Day Secondary Schools.
Engr. Wakilbe warned the Education Secretary Babagana Modu that punishable measures will be taken on absenteeism.

Engr. Wakilbe proceded to Wulgo and inspected the Primary and Junior Day in Wulgo before sitting the location for Government Day Secondary School Wulgo.

Similarly, the Commissioner visited the site of the ongoing Mega Higher Islamic College Gamboru and the vocational Training Center at Gamboru.

Furthermore, Engr. Wakilbe went to Ngala, where he sitted the proposed Government Day Secondary School Ngala and visited Ngala Central and CBDA Primary and Junior Day Secondary School.

The Commissioner was led by the Vice Chairman of Local Government Council Babagana Alh Kurna and accompanied by officials of the Ministry, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and Teaching Service Board (TSB) respectively.

Honorable Commissioner of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe today, Wednesday the 25th of October 2023, extends schools supervision visit to Mafa and Dikwa Local Government Areas. While at Mafa, the commissioner visited Ngranam Primary School, Government Day Secondary School Mafa, Mafa Central School, and Ajiri School, where the Commissioner distributed Governor Zulum's back to School items like uniforms, bags, books, shoes, stokins, mathematical sets, textbooks etc. Engr Wakilbe, however, frowned at the low enrollment of the students in Mafa but rewarded four teachers with cash gifts for outstanding performance.

Similarly, the Commissioner proceeded to Dikwa to achieve the same but was happy with the good enrollment and teachers turn out at Government Day Secondary School Dikwa, Shehu Sanda Kura School, Dikwa Central among others.

The Commissioner was accompanied by Kachalla Ali Director Quality Assurance Services (SUBEB), Babagana Zannah Director Schools Services (SUBEB), Babagana Bulama Director Schools Services (TSB), staff of the ministry among others. The delegation finally proceeded to Ngala Local Government.
