... HE CONGRATULATES SOCIOLOGY DEPARTMENT TEAM FOR EMERGING CHAMPIONS
The Sports Coordinator, Moses Orshio Adasu University (MOAU), Dr Victor Terkimbi Ikpato has promised more sporting events on campus aimed at fostering social interaction and unity of purpose among students for the greater good of the university.
He made the declaration Friday, 24th April 2026, during the closing ceremony of this year's campus league competition, held at the University Football Pitch, First Campus, Makurdi.
Describing sports as vital to the well-being of the university community and beyond, Dr Ikpato, who is also a lecturer in the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education, noted that where sporting activities thrive, students are fully engaged, limiting their exposure to social vices and other contemporary issues. This year's event saw the sociology team clinch the coveted trophy after edging out Human Kinetics 3-1 on penalties, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
While congratulating the champions, the Sociology Department team, Dr Ikpato, also extended appreciation to all participants for their good conduct, which contributed significantly to the tournament's success.
"We have come to the end of this event. It is a success because of your understanding and cooperation. Let me assure you that more sporting events are coming up under my watch," he said.
A wide jubilation erupted among the champions' supporters when the trophy was presented.
The event was graced by scholars from various departments, students, soccer enthusiasts, and football stakeholders.
