What lesson has life taught you that no sermon ever could?

One day, a nervous-looking man walked into my hardware store, and I honestly thought he was about to ask for money. Instead, he quietly asked, “Ma’am, may I please use your bathroom? I have a job interview soon, and I need to clean up first.”
As we talked, he explained that he had just been released from prison and had nowhere stable to stay. Then he said something I will never forget: “I just don’t want them to look at me and already decide I’m not worth hiring.”
That really touched my heart. I allowed him to clean up, gave him a clean store shirt, and even told him he could come back if the interview didn’t work out.
A few days later, he returned smiling and said, “I got the job. I just came back to thank you.” That moment reminded me that sometimes people don’t need money; they just need kindness, respect, and one fair chance.
