The 11th World Champion, Robert James Fischer, was born on this day in 1943. ♟️✨
Ten things you need to know about him:
◽he became World Champion in 1972 by beating Boris Spassky in Reykjavik, Iceland
◾this match, and the lead-up to it, was the subject of the movie "Pawn Sacrifice"
◽he never played a rated game again since
◾he reappeared 20 years later to win a second match against Spassky
◽he once won the US Championship with 11/11(!)
◾there is a Fischer Memorial Prize for anyone who repeats this feat (no winners yet)
◽he invented Chess960, also known as 'Fischer random'
◾he patented the chess clock supporting time increments after each move - used everywhere today
◽he wrote that 1.e4 is "best by test"!
◾he passed away in Reykjavik on January 17, 2008

Nepo’s Blunder, Magnus Brilliance.
The 64 Squares battleground challenge for the World Crown 👑 is over with a WIN for Black today.
In the 11th game today, 10th December 2021, magnificent Magnus played Black while his challenger, Ian Nepomniachtchi played White. Hoping that Nepo will dazzle his opponent with the power of his creative imagination and come out stronger after disappointments in game 6, 8 and 9 but failed to do so as move 23 appeared to be a classic Himalayan blunder in classical chess championship match - which proved to be the beginning of his misery.
Carlsen again crowned World Chess Champion for the 5th time. The handshake 🤝 from Nepo is a sign of respect and sportsmanship.

Hats Off to Team China!
All the teams had one thing in mind going into the just concluded FIDE Online Nations Cup tournament - WINNING. And the Five-Star Red Flag Nation came out top of the six (6) participating teams - Europe, India, USA, Russia, China, and Rest of the World.
The Chinese team is made up of Ding Liren, Wang Hao, Ye Jiangchuan, Wei Yi, Hou Yifan, and two reserve players - Yu Yangyi and Ju Wenjun.
