Inter Milan striker Mehdi Taremi will miss the Club World Cup after being unable to leave Iran due to suspended flights amid tensions with Israel. The 32-year-old was stuck in Tehran following military escalations between the two nations.

Taremi had just scored in Iran's World Cup qualifier against North Korea on Tuesday. He was set to join Inter in Los Angeles but now won’t feature against Monterrey — and likely won't play in the tournament at all.
