Looking back at the 6th International CIO Golf Classic held in Port Harcourt. This edition raised the bar with a $50,000 USD Professional Prize Money and an atmosphere of world-class competition.

The 6th Edition of the Chief (Dr.) Ikenna Okafor (CIO) Birthday Golf Classics was nothing short of spectacular. From the energy of Children & Youth Day to the high stakes of the Pro Event and the final Amateur rounds, every moment at the Python International Golf Club was a testament to the spirit of the game.

It wasn’t just about the $50,000 Pro Purse or the trips to Kenya—it was about community, sportsmanship, and celebrating a visionary leader.

CHIEF IKENNA OKAFOR'S Journey into Golf:

Chief Ikenna Okafor began playing golf during the COVID-19 lockdown at Python Golf Club (6 Division), thanks to his friend Godbless Omie-Abbey, who spent five years convincing him to try the sport. Initially a passionate tennis player, Okafor's commitment to golf grew after being introduced to Pro Gift W***y and documenting each game he played. This dedication led to the creation of The Centenary Milestone tournament and the 500 plus milestone Pro-Am Championship, with significant prizes for winners.

Chief Okafor now plays with a Handicap of 18, a notable achievement since he started golfing. Despite shifting his focus to golf, he has made significant contributions to tennis, including building two tennis courts for Python Tennis Club, serving as Captain of Port Harcourt Club Tennis Section from 2008-2010, acting as a patron, and sponsoring numerous tennis events and tours.

The Chief Ikenna Okafor (CIO) PRO-AM Golf Classics, which will hold its 7th edition from November 8th-15th, 2026, with a 100-million-naira purse for the pros and overseas vacations for amateur winners, clearly shows his heart is now truly in golf.
