🚨 A disturbing report from the Spanish Observatory of Racism and Xenophobia has found that 6 out of every 10 racist slurs detected on Spanish social media were aimed at Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.

Yamal was the target of 60% of all racist abuse directed at footballers in Spain — twice as much as Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior.

The highest spike in online attacks came around the time of the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris, where the teenager was subjected to vile racial insults, including being labelled an “illegal immigrant.”

These attacks are not isolated, but part of a sustained pattern of racism based on ethnicity, skin colour, and religion. Although Yamal was born in Spain and holds Spanish nationality, he continues to be singled out because of his Moroccan and African heritage.
