This is one of the reasons I take fitness seriously.

An amazing outing with the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Uyo.
Someone asked why I’m barefoot while I was in the gym recording this on my leg day
This is the reason
I see people squat with sneakers 👟 meant for running, most of those shoes have ones toes squeezed which is not good
Proper squat shoes are supposed to be have a flat sole where the toes are not squeezed
I’m a case where you don’t have proper squat shoes it’s advisable you go barefoot as that provides more stability and grip on the ground.
When I began my journey in fitness, profit was never the motivation. It started purely from a genuine love for sports and physical activity.
I would jog on the roads as early as 5:00a.m., a habit I have maintained to this day.Around 2017–2018, I experienced a turning point that made me realize that what I was doing for fun was something I needed to take seriously.
I stayed consistent, and over time, that passion naturally evolved into a career as a fitness instructor.
My first set of trainees were my university classmates about five or six of them. We trained around the water fountain in Nwaniba, here in Uyo.Training people never felt like work to me; it was enjoyable.
I found deep satisfaction in seeing people become fitter and accomplish things they never thought their bodies could do.Eventually, what began as passion also became a source of income.
The first money I earned as a trainer helped me survive during my time in the NYSC camp in Delta State in August 2019.That experience alone reinforced the value of what I was building.
Fast forward to today, I am not the same trainer I was in 2019. I have deliberately expanded my knowledge, invested time and resources into professional courses, and studied fitness from a scientific and evidence-based perspective.
I no longer prescribe exercises randomly; every program I design is calculated, taking into account a client’s health history, limitations, and personal goals.
Over time, I have also transitioned into the wellness aspect of the profession. Fitness is just one branch of wellness, and wellness is where long-term value both impact and sustainability truly lies.
About three years ago, I had a conversation where someone accused me of merely trying to “advertise my business” when I spoke about fitness.
That comment kind of offended me. Since then, I stopped actively motivating or persuading people to engage in fitness. I believe that those who truly need my services will seek me out and many have.
I’ve worked with individuals who understand the value I bring, and they’ve become my strongest advocates.
In the near future, I also plan to pursue formal training in physiotherapy and chiropractic care.In 2026, I made a conscious decision to shift my focus toward working more with middle-aged clients rather than younger individuals.
The reason is simple: middle-aged people understand the importance of fitness and wellness.
They take it seriously, respect the process, appreciate professional guidance, have realistic goals, and are generally easier to work with. Some people wonder why I rarely post fitness-related content here.
The truth is that fitness content is often misunderstood and underappreciated. Unfortunately, some content creators have distorted the true meaning of fitness, leading to harmful misconceptions.
Today, many people wrongly associate gyms and fitness spaces with inappropriate behavior because of the kind of content they consume online.
I’ll conclude with this: fitness and wellness are deeply personal almost like salvation. Eventually, everyone will prioritize their health.
The money you feel you cannot spend on fitness today will be spent in the future, sometimes at a much higher cost, just to regain basic mobility or quality of life.
Life is a gift from God, but the quality of that life is determined by our choices. The question is simple: how do you want the last 20 years of your life to look?
