The Executive Chairman of ONNA Local Government Area, Hon. Kufre Umoren, has presented a Toyota Corolla Luxury vehicle to the Head of Service, ONNA Local Government Council, Mr Andrew Umoren.

The presentation, which took place at the Council Secretariat, Abat, underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity, promoting efficient governance and enhancing service delivery across the local government.

Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Kufre Umoren reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting excellence, professionalism and effective public service at all levels of the Council’s operations. He noted that the gesture was part of broader efforts to provide the necessary support and tools for personnel to discharge their responsibilities effectively.

Responding, the Head of Service, Mr Andrew Umoren, expressed profound appreciation to the Chairman for the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of purposeful leadership and a clear commitment to strengthening the administrative capacity of the local government.

He further pledged his continued loyalty and dedication to the administration’s policies and programmes, assuring the Chairman of his support in advancing the development and overall interests of ONNA Local Government Area.

𝗨𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗢𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗔, 𝗦𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸

The Executive Chairman of ONNA Local Government Area, Hon. Kufre Umoren, has inspected a number of ongoing projects across the council, expressing satisfaction with the progress of work and reaffirming the administration's commitment to completing the projects within the stipulated timeframe.

The inspection covered the ultramodern Executive Council (EXCO) Building, the ongoing remodelling of the Chairman's Office block, ongoing renovation of the legislative block, ongoing road construction within the Local Government Council premises, as well as the two-bedroom Compassionate Home at Ukpana.

During the inspection, Hon. Umoren assessed the level of work on the various projects and expressed optimism about their timely completion. He noted that the projects were progressing satisfactorily and underscored his administration's determination to deliver quality infrastructure that would enhance the efficiency of the council and improve the well-being of residents.

The Executive Chairman expressed particular satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, stressing that the completion timeline remains firmly in sight.

He reiterated his administration's commitment to responsible governance, infrastructure development and people-oriented initiatives, assuring residents that ongoing projects would continue to receive the necessary attention to ensure their successful completion.

The inspection further underscores the Hon. Umoren administration's focus on transforming the physical infrastructure of ONNA Local Government Area while delivering projects with lasting value to the people.

A New Dawn in Oniong Clan in Onna: Eteidung Ubong Ekanem Emerge Clan Head-Elect of Oniong Clan

In the heart of Onna Local Government Area, history unfolded as Eteidung Ubong Ekanem Tom, the revered Village Head of Ikot Ntuen, emerged as the Clan Head-Elect of Oniong Clan.

The atmosphere at the Onna Traditional Rulers Council was charged with solemnity and anticipation. Certificated village heads of Oniong gathered in unity, their presence a testament to tradition and continuity. The council, under the careful guidance of its secretary, Comrade Augustine, moderated the process with dignity, ensuring each aspirant was given the floor to present their vision for the clan’s future.

Eteidung Robinson Inyang of Ikwe, Eteidung Udo Samson Akpan of Ikot Annang, and Eteidung Ubong Ekanem of Ikot Ntuen spoke with conviction, each outlining their manifesto before the council. When the time came for voting, the aspirants stepped aside, allowing the village heads to queue behind their chosen candidate. In a gesture of humility, Eteidung Friday Inyang bowed out of the contest.

The votes were cast and counted. With four votes, Eteidung Ubong Ekanem stood tall, narrowly surpassing Eteidung Samson Akpan, who secured three. The announcement of his victory was met with thunderous celebration. Women and youths, in the age-old tradition of joy, waved tree branches high and danced with unrestrained excitement, their voices rising in songs of praise.

The occasion drew distinguished figures, including Etebom (Hon.) E. A. Itiat Udo Udang IV, Clan Head of Asuna Nung Oku Clan; Eteidung Ubong Effang, Village Head of Awa Iman; Otuekong (Hon.) Iniekpo Akpanekpo; Chief Ekaette Ekaette; and Comrade Augustine. Their presence lent weight to the ceremony, affirming the legitimacy of the process.

As the jubilant crowd escorted the Clan Head-Elect to his palace, the celebration swelled into a greater multitude. There, amidst chants, dances, and the rhythm of tradition, the people of Oniong heralded their new king, a leader chosen not only by votes but by the collective spirit of his people.
