One of the pictures I have of Loren, the only kids living at YWAM Lausanne in the 90’s. (I am the little boy to the left of Loren with bleached hair.) Loren was like a Grandpa to me and my sister as I processed his legacy. I know my love for travel and cultures came from him. I remember a community night, and he brought grasshoppers for all of us to try from an Asian country. I remember everyone on base interceding for his entry into Iran. One of my most cherished gifts from Loren was a bible on my 21st birthday when I was far from God, but the note he wrote spoke directly into my life. Loren, thank you for saying yes and leaning into God. It is how I try to live my life now—doing everything possible so God can do the impossible.

This week we have been camping in the bush with our coaches and three of our under-17’s playing in a tournament that is a outreach to a unreached people group. We as New Vision staff have taken this time away from Arusha to teach the men in our program how to hear God’s voice and play some football :)

Always nice to see Amsterdam in the morning. It amazes me how a city so beautiful can be so broken. I read an article about the reason for the red light district. Stating, “we as humans love s*x, so why hide it? Let's make it easy.”
This is sad because if you break it down, this speaks to our own selfish desires guise as everyone wants this and making s*x the object instead of celebrating it as a gift from God for a married couple to enjoy.

In 2020 I began the journey of making sourdough bread. Like life, it has its ups and downs, but one thing I have learned is that when all the little details intersect at the right moment, turning some flour, water, and salt into mouth-watering bread is possible. Use what God gave you and trust His timing, and everything will work out just fine.

I was inspired by my little sister to create this illustration. She has always loved penguins and the movie happy feet about a individual penguin being different and learning to own it. I am so proud of my little sister for the individual journey she has taken and owing her identity keep on being you.
