Effortless brachiation on the monkeybars, well done!👌🏼

Brachiation, in this case the forward traverse, is one of the best ways to restore the natural movement capacities we have in our shoulders.

And with these strengthened, mobilized shoulders the path is opened to loads of new opportunities 💪🏼💪🏼

Self organizing physical capacities of this kid are fully there!

As with most kids, cueing is hardly needed, because humans are all born with a strong instinct to move naturally.🌿

Biggest difference between kids and adults is that kids haven’t been deconditioned yet.

Er is een mismatch ontstaan tussen de verwachtingen van de moderne omgeving en waar ons lijf om schreeuwt. Lees hier een recent artikel uit de NY Times die dat onderschrijft.

Zeker in deze tijden, waar de politieke maatregelen, de berichtgeving van de media en het vele binnen zitten je stresslevels tot grote hoogten doen stijgen, is het essentieel om regelmatig juist wel naar buiten te gaan (in een rustige, groene omgeving), je van de media af te sluiten en te bewegen.

Oerkracht zit in ons allemaal. En dat hebben we nu hard nodig.

Absolute empowerment in its purest sense. is making progress week after week. Here she is showing a smooth technique side swing traverse.

This specific movement routine happened before the outdoor workout venues got closed in Amsterdam. We cleaned the bars with alcohol and cleaned her hands after.

Now we are practising on and in trees, to be continued..

Progression!

Steps: 1: isolating of the fundamentals 2: working with quadrupedal movements 3. Rotation into wall 4. Rotation into arch 5. Bringing leg halfway over and back 6. Bringing leg halfway over and back and come loose from the ground with one arm.

Since the beginning of times, mankind has been evolving on rhythm and play, pushing us forward in expanding movement patterns.

Modern day environments have been letting us do right the opposite.

And so we have our trainee shuffling through the park to get a sense of our ancestral qualities🎶

We started consciously isolating foot by foot, then integrating the feet unconsciously together.

Cues: 1: Keep moving left or right 2: Pivot on front part of left and right foot (heel or midfoot) at the same time.

She only received 3 ques; keep al limbs on one line, always have 3 points of contact with the ground and first move back hand, then back foot onward.

This quadrupedal movement requires not only structural integrity, strength-endurance and stability but above all full concentration which makes it so demanding and so good.

Hence the: “meine liebe” at the end 😅

We often move with just a few ques and let the self organizing capabilities of the trainee do the rest, in a constant process of acting and reacting.

In this one; 1. Keep the feet where they are. 2. Keep holding each others hands. 3. Try to get the other out of balance, but assist when the other needs assistance.
