I know my best friend since birth. 35 years later he is the father of one of the most pretty young girls I know. In the weekend, we went on a bike ride in the Dutch polder :). She was so proud to ride next to me (So was I ;) )

I am looking forward to be on the bike again. After two years!!! I will be back in Calgary. The first week, I will take the car to see my good old friend Peter Moore who hosted me in his cottage in Montana, USA. Then, my girlfriend and I will be on the bike together for three weeks. After that, I continue another four weeks from Seattle back to Calgary following the American border.

Tomorrow, I will take my girlfriend Christy on a Canadian bike ride. Exciting! Will she like it? Will I like it? It is gonna be dirty and remote at times. However, I put through some changes, like more villages and more asphalt. Check the route I made today!!!

Exactly one year ago, I ended my two year cycling trip in Ushuaia, Argentina. Life has changed a full 180 since then. Life on the bike was free. Free of money, peer pressure and time.
I very well remember the first few times I crossed a time-zone. I got confused when I realised the change of time did not affect my way of living since I only followed the rhythm of the sunset and sunrise. By crossing a time zone, the sun did not set or rise differently than the day before! For two years, time, social pressure and money was not part of my life.

I am writing the first chapter of my book... I felt completely lost the first days on the North Slope in Alaska. Why did I want to cycle more than 30,000 kilometers, I was wondering.
