Autumn 🍂 is properly here with a slight delay as summer wanted to stay with us for a little bit longer.
Many parents wonder how to dress their Little Ones for the night and how to check if the baby is not too warm nor too cold.
🍁 If your baby’s chest feels warm and sticky it means your child might be too hot 🥵 and it’s a good idea to take one layer off
🍁 if the chest or the back of the neck feels cool, add a layer
🍁 remember feet and hands naturally feel cooler than the rest of the body so make sure to check the chest and the back of the neck ☺️
For the sleeping bag business it depends on the temperature in the room
The general idea is to to think layers 🧅
Short sleeve 🩱 plus pjs 👘 and
1-1.5 TOG for 18-21 C
1.5-2 TOG for 17-20 C
2-2.5 TOG for 16-19 C
Remember these are just rough guidelines. Check the body temperature of your baby and adjust the layers accordingly.
If you have any questions about layers, temperature or sleep send me a message or give me a call. I’d be more than happy to help 🍂

How is everyone holding up with the heat 🥵 I can’t say, but I’m a hot weather loving person but I know that most babies and older kids struggle with the heat at night. I have a sneaky hack for you. If you put a bottle with ice 🧊 inside (simply fill in an empty bottle with water 2/3 and put it in a freezer) and place it in front of the fan it will blow and distribute a cool air inside the room 😉 just make sure it does blow directly at your Little One. Have you ever tried it?

Me time.
Something that mums and dads forget to implement in day to day life. We often get sucked into daily speedy schedules and routines.
It’s very important that you take time for yourself. Your child is important but so are you! If you let your physical and mental batteries 🪫 down you won’t be able to look after your Little One.
DO NOT CANCEL A MEETING WITH YOURSELF!
Make yourself a priority. Even a tiny bit of time of self care will charge you and give you the boost that you so much need.
Go for a walk. Have your hair done. Read a book. Have a cup of tea without interruption.
It doesn’t make you selfish!
Happy and relaxed parent is a happy and relaxed baby! 🏝
How do you spend your “me time”?

Having Mama Wednesday means spending more quality time with my boy. In the past couple of weeks we have been enjoying the last bits of summer. We’re hunting for snails 🐌, collecting leaves 🍁 and stones. Enjoying local stream to dip our feet 🦶
What have you been up to? How are you spending your precious moments with you Little Ones?

Things that were quite scary for us, like her sleeping unswaddled or on her belly, Ola guided us through it, we just had to action on your advices and everything fell into place.” - Leanne

Summer is nearly over and nights are getting longer. This is a great news for parents of early roosters 🥳 it is easier to maintain the room dark in early morning and convince the Little One that is still a night.
REMEMBER to avoid early rising
✅ make sure to put your child to bed “on time”
✅ avoid having too big of a gap between the last nap of the day and bedtime
✅ practice falling asleep independently in the evening
✅ start a day after 6:00 at the earliest
✅ preserve, early rising can take a long time to resolve
If you have any questions regarding early rising or any other sleep questions, send me a dm to schedule a free 15-min call ☺️

We’re on staycation this week! 🏝 we’re having friends and family coming over to see us throughout the whole summer but this week we have decided to go for small daily trips and be tourists in our local area ☺️ what are your plans for this summer? How is your Little One 👶 dealing with the change of environment?

In a past week I get many questions about what to do during the hot 🥵 summer and summer nights. Here is a reminder post about what to do in a such hot conditions.
Not everyone likes this kind of weather though. I find that especially for babies 👶 and small children it can be challenging. There is a couple of things you can do to improve your Little One’s sleep during hot summer nights 😴 .
🏖 Use thin breathable layers. Depends on the temperature in the nursery you might use only a babby grow or in some cases only a nappy
🏖 Choose a very thin blanket or a sleeping bag. Most babies and children like to have something to cover them at night. Use a very very thin blanket or even a burp cloth to help your Little One feel comfortable
🏖 Close curtains/blinds during the day. If your child’s bedroom is on the sunny side, close curtains to keep the sun away
🏖 Open the window to get good airflow. Make sure that the window is secured with a safety latch
🏖 Create a draft. Before your LO goes to be open the window and the door to the bedroom to create a draft. You can also use a fan during the night to help the air circulate a bit. Remember not to point it directly on the baby though. The air can bounce off the walls.

I am so happy the spring is here 🌸 I was starting to feel like it might never come! We started working on our small allotment with Oli and going to grow our own veggies 🍅 and flowers 🌺 this summer. It is so nice to see him “working” hard, running around and just enjoying exploring and being more present.
Being outside and letting kids run around is a great tool to use for burning 🔥 extra energy before bedtime 🥱 After a good couple of hours of outdoor activities children sleep better.
We also introduced an after school evening walk.nits an amazing opportunity to have a quality family time between dinner and bedtime. Even 30 mins of outside time together lowered evening meltdowns 🥳
Do you go for daily walks with your LO? What outside activities do you recommend?
