🌊 In our conversation with Talk to Al Jazeera, we shared how the same floating technology used for luxury villas in Miami can be scaled down to protect vulnerable communities in flood-prone regions like Bangladesh and India.

From small floating islands in Bihar to our new “flow-cost houses” affordable, low-tech homes built in just 2 days for $2,000 we’re proving that floating architecture can be both innovative and inclusive.

Our goal: safe, resilient communities for those most threatened by rising waters.

A hundred years ago we had small houseboats.
Today, we can build entire floating platforms stable, scalable, and ready to move from city to city.

As Koen Olthuis shared with Al Jazeera, the real breakthrough isn’t floating itself, but:
✔️ Making large platforms stable and affordable
✔️ Finding ways to transport them
✔️ Changing laws so floating buildings are recognized as real estate, not ships

From simple houseboats to floating neighborhoods, this is how water becomes part of tomorrow’s cities.

We believe the future of cities is on water.

As climate change and urbanization reshape the world, we design floating solutions that are light, flexible, and resilient. Whether it's a family home, a wellness center, or an entire district our work is rooted in one idea:

Water can be a foundation.

We're not just building for today. We're building for rising seas, shifting coastlines, and growing communities.

This is why we build the way we do.

Big ideas don’t need a big footprint.

The Arkup 50 is the compact sibling of the Arkup 75. It carries the same DNA, off-grid, mobile, hurricane-resilient, but fits into places where space is limited and lightness matters.

Ideal for remote coastlines, protected lagoons, or simply those who want to live closer to nature with less.

Flexible, self-sufficient, and ready to float wherever life takes you.

Not every building has to be fixed to the ground.

This floating spa in Turks & Caicos offers something rare: peace, beauty, and the ability to move. Most of the time, it rests gently on stilts in calm, shallow waters. But when hurricanes threaten, the structure can float and be towed to safety.

It’s a wellness experience shaped by the sea, designed to adapt.

What if your home could float, rise with the water, and keep you safe in any storm?

The Arkup 75 is more than a floating villa. It’s a fully self-sufficient home that combines comfort, design, and climate resilience. Solar-powered, off-grid, and equipped with retractable legs that lift it above the waves when hurricanes approach.

We designed it as a statement: living on water should be safe, beautiful, and free.

We are improving our hortus boatanicus, a scale up is getting closer. The Boskoop prototype shows that a feasible, food-producing unit can float—greenhouses on the roof, fresh harvest below, ready for urban agriculture everywhere.

On May 1st, our Ambassador Remco van Wijngaarden welcomed the 10-day summer course "Amphibious Transformation by Design'' as part of our Orange Green Days initiative. This course brings together students from Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) in Thailand and Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) in Indonesia to explore the challenges of the water issue in regional, metropolitan and urban environments in relation to climate change.

The Netherlands is proud to collaborate with various countries, sharing knowledge and expertise in water management. Many thanks to all partners, including Dutch expertise from TUDelft, IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, and Waterstudio for their invaluable support in making this summer course possible.

We recently had a productive meeting with our team in , where we discussed the progress of our in . The enthusiasm is there, especially as we shift our focus towards creating a lively, interconnected neighborhood.

Our global team’s commitment is very inspiring. We’ve exchanged ideas and outlined steps to transform our City App into a dynamic community platform. Our current emphasis is on developing a ‘floating neighborhood,’ utilizing technology to enhance resident interactions.

We are grateful for the collaboration with our outstanding team in India. Together, we’re spearheading innovation and fostering community building.
