Operating as usual

Many of us spend a lot of time in meetings or e-mailing with others, and not a lot
of time communicating with ourselves. The result is that we don’t know what is
going on within us. It may be a mess inside. How, then, can we communicate
with another person?
We think that with all our technological devices we can connect, but this is
an illusion. In daily life we’re disconnected from ourselves. We walk, but we
don’t know that we’re walking. We’re here, but we don’t know that we’re here.
We’re alive, but we don’t know that we’re alive. Throughout the day, we lose
To stop and communicate with yourself is a revolutionary act. You sit down
and stop that state of being lost, of not being yourself. You begin by just
stopping whatever you’re doing, sitting down, and connecting with yourself.
This is called mindful awareness. Mindfulness is full awareness of the present
moment. You don’t need an iPhone or a computer. You just need to sit down and
breathe in and out. In just a few seconds, you can connect with yourself. You
know what is going on in your body, your feelings, your emotions, and your

Sin is a mistake committed by the ignorant Jiva during his journey towards
Sat-Chit-Ananda abode. Once you make up your mind to tread the path of truth all sins will be
destroyed. Lord Krishna gives His assurance: “Even if the most sinful worship Me, with undivided
heart, he too must be accounted righteous for he hath rightly resolved. Speedily he becometh dutiful
and goeth to eternal peace. Know thou for certain that My devotee never perisheth.” The repetition
of even ulta-nam (reverse name) of Rama Mantra, transmuted rogue Ratnakar into a sage Valmiki.
When such is the power of the inverse name (Mara, Mara), what to speak of the glory of repeating
Rama, Rama with Bhava from the bottom of the heart! Ajamila who was in a degraded and abject
state on account of his bad character attained Mukti by repeating ‘Narayana’ once in his death-bed
by calling his son by his name Narayana. Licentious Vemanna of Andhra Desa became a full-blown
Yogi by his devotion to mother Kali. Grieve not, my dear friends. Fear not. Stand up. Gird up the
loins. Fight with the Indriyas and Vasanas. Become a Yogi. Forget the past. A glorious, brilliant
future is awaiting you. Cheer up yourself. Purify. Concentrate. Do Japa and Kirtan. Meditate.
Realise the Sat-Chit-Ananda Atman!

Take wholesome, Sattvic food half-stomachful; fill the quarter-stomachful with pure water;
and allow the remaining quarter free for expansion of gas. This is Mitahara, the ideal food forYogins. This is the ideal for all who want to preserve health. This is quite hygienic and is inharmony with the dietetic principles of modern medical science. This is Mitahara prescribed for
“Nathyasnatastu Yogoasti na chaikantamanasnatah
Na chaathisvapnaseelasya jagratho naivacharjuna”.
“Verily, Yoga is not for him who eateth too much, nor he who abstaineth to excess, nor who
is too much addicted to sleep, nor even to wakefulness, O Arjuna.” (Gita VI- 16).

Control your emotion. Abandon desires and Vasanas. Control irritability and lust. Slay the
impure mind through the pure mind and transcend the pure mind through meditation. Practise
perfect Brahmacharya. There is no half measure in the spiritual path.
Never wrestle with the mind. Do not use any violent effort in concentration. When the mind
is jumping and wandering much, make no violent effort to control it but rather allow it to run along
for a while and exhaust its efforts. It will take advantage of the opportunity and will jump around
like an unchained monkey at first. Then it will gradually become quiet and look to you for orders.

Soham and OM are one and the same. Soham Dhyana is Nirguna, Nirakara meditation only.
Soham means “I am he” This is associated with the breath. Repeat “So” when you inhale and
“Ham” when you exhale. This is easy for some. This is known as ‘Ajapa Japa’. Feel that you are the
all-pervading pure consciousness when you think of Soham. The source for this breath is Brahman
or Atman. You are identical with that source and reality.

Understand and realise the powers of the mind. Unfold the hidden powers or occult
faculties. Close the eyes. Concentrate. Explore the higher regions of the mind. You can see distantobjects, hear distant voices, send messages to distant, parts, heal persons who are at a distance, andmove about to a distant place in the twinkling of an eye. Believe in the power of the mind. If youhave interest, attention, will-power, faith, you are bound to succeed. The source for the mind isAtman or the Highest Self.

Pranayama is an exact science. It is the fourth Anga or limb of Ashtanga Yoga. It is theregulation of breath or control of Prana.
Pranayama steadies the mind, augments the gastric fire, energises digestion, invigorates thenerves, destroys the Rajas, destroys all diseases, removes all laziness, makes the body light and
healthy and awakens Kundalini.
Pranayama should be practised when the stomach is empty. Be regular in your practice. Donot take bath immediately after the practice. Do not practise Kumbhaka or retention of breath in the
beginning. Have only slow and mild Puraka (inhalation) and Rechaka (exhalation). Do not strainthe breath beyond your capacity. Keep the ratio for Puraka, Kumbhaka and Rechaka as 1:4:2.
Exhale very very slowly.

Practise a few Asanas daily at least for a period of fifteen minutes. You will possess
wonderful health. Be regular in your practice. Regularity is of paramount importance. PractiseBhujang, Salabh, Dhanur, Sarvang, Hala and Paschimottasan Asanas. Bhujang, Salabh and Dhanurwill remove constipation and muscular pain of the back. Sirsh, Sarvang and Hala will help you inmaintaining Brahmacharya, rendering the spine elastic and curing all diseases. Paschimottasan willreduce fat in the belly and help digestion. Relax all muscles in Savasana in the end.

Essence of Sadhana
1. Get up at 4 a.m. daily. This is Brahmamuhurta which is extremely favourable for meditation on God.
2. Asana: Sit on Padma, Siddha or Sukha Asana for Japa and meditation for half an hour, facing the east or the north. Increase the period gradually to three hours. Do Sirshasana and
Sarvangasana for keeping up Brahmacharya and health. Take light physical exercises as walking,
etc., regularly. Do twenty Pranayamas.

Letting go is the hardest asana .

"Go back and take care of yourself. Your body needs you, your feelings need you, your perceptions need you. Your suffering needs you to acknowledge it. Go home and be there for all these things."

Shiva gave his Trishul
Vishnu his Chakra
Varuna a conch
Agni a spear
Marut a powerful bow
Indra gave her the Vajra
Surya gave his rays
Yama a sword
Samudra a necklace
Vishwakarma gave her a Farsa
Himvat gave her a lion

And thus Devi Durga was created .

Awareness is not something far off, lofty or mysterious. Awareness is that which is looking through your eyes reading this. Just your ordinary, everyday awareness. Not some special awareness.

Awareness is that which wakes up in the morning and remains aware until you go to sleep at night. Awareness is not any of the things or experiences perceived.

If one turns the attention towards the background of awareness, eventually it will be discovered that the background of awareness is continuous, limitless and unbroken, even during deep sleep and permeates all that exists.

Life management.

If you find it difficult to control anger, leave the place at once and take a brisk walk. Drink some water immediately. This cools down the body and mind. Chant OM loudly like a lion for ten minutes and then chant OM SHANTI mentally or verbally for five minutes.

Timeline photos 22/08/2020

In terms of emotional habits, when somebody insults me or does something I find offensive, I feel anger, and then maybe think, ‘How could he do that? That’s disgusting! He was supposed to be my friend but he’s betrayed me, he’s disappointed me, I’ll never forgive him! No, I’m not even going to speak to him again ― but I’m going to confront him! I’m going to seek revenge!’ and I can go on and on like that.

Then the rational mind says, ‘Oh, just forget it! He’s trying his best,’ and there is a feeling of magnanimity, a grand gesture of understanding. But you can’t sustain that for long before it goes back into, ‘How could he? I’ll never forgive him.’ And there is a struggle between the magnanimous, generous ‘Forgive! He’s just doing the best he can. Don’t make it personal. We all have our bad days . . .’ and ‘I’LL NEVER FORGIVE HIM!’ At least this is how my mind works.

I have heard all the good advice, but the hurt, the pain of disappointment, the sense of betrayal is still there. So I contemplate these things. And then in this emptiness or this ‘sound of silence’, the thinking process stops.
