Indian classical dance is more than art—it’s rhythm, grace, and storytelling that uplifts and connects us to a deeper dimension in life.

Varaveena Dance Company’s mission is for all art lovers in Auckland to experience the purest essence of Bharatanatyam.

Adavus are often practiced in chaturasra jaati - a 4 beat cycle, but growth begins when we challenge body and mind to step into unfamiliar. Here, our few students from Anantara batch explores the mishra jaati — a seven-beat cycle.

Dancers: Tanvi, Nandita, Janaki, and Aparna 💫

Oh—and in the background, you can spot our very dedicated adult students practicing 💝

Our incredible adult students from batch “Poorva”, most of them stepped onto the stage for the very first time — and what a powerful moment it was. ❤️

So many adults come to carrying a quiet dream…
A childhood wish to learn Bharatanatyam that life put on hold.
A long-lost spark waiting to be rekindled.
A voice inside whispering, “It’s not too late.”

And they proved just that..
They danced with courage, joy, and a dedication that reminds us:
Dreams don’t expire. They simply wait for the right time — and the right teacher — to bloom.

To our wonderful adult dancers:
Your journey inspires us. Your passion lights up our studio. And your first step onto the stage is only the beginning. 🌸

Here’s to rediscovering dreams, embracing new chapters, and dancing boldly at any age. 💫

🙏 Anjali Hasta – an emoji today we often use today, is actually a gesture rooted in offering and respect.

In Bharatanatyam, this mudra is formed by joining both palms together. It symbolizes salutation, devotion, and humility — a reminder that the divine resides within each of us, and that every performance begins with reverence… and that we are meant to live with that same reverence every day.

A simple gesture, a deep meaning.🙏

🌸✨ Sharing glimpses of our dear student Dakshina’s Bharathanatyam Solo Offering ✨🌸

At just seven years old, Dakshina dances with a devotion and grace that touches hearts. In this solo performance of 10 minutes, she danced with so much sincerity and love.

This is her small but heartfelt tribute to our rich cultural heritage and surrender to the beautiful artform - Bharathanatyam 🙏✨

We hope you enjoy and bless her journey.
Thank you for the opportunity MindBodySoul.Me and the beautiful venue and Suman Gill for the video 🙏🌸
