Our second collaboration with Graham Tipene (Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei) is nearly gone.
 
🌿 Named Kawakawa —  a canopy inspired by both Kawakawa Pounamu and the native healing Kawakawa  plant. 
 
This design is about honouring and protecting Te Reo Māori beyond Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, and celebrating it everyday.
 
Limited numbers remain in both Metro and Classic sizes.

BLUNT x Graham Tipene: Behind the design 💚

Every line across the canopy is intentional. 
 
🌿 The design follows a poutama pattern, tracing a journey from darkness at the base, the circle representing the harder chapters in the language’s history. 
 
🌿 Up towards the centre represents where Te Reo Māori is spoken, taught and shared openly. 
 
🌿 Running through the design are whakarare, lines that speak to disruption, and ngutu kākā, the beak of a bird, symbolising the passing on of verbal knowledge. 

🌿 A kiri kiore pattern nods to a story from the north, water trickling over the backs of swimming rats, while three unaunahi, representing fish scales, speak to manaakitanga: the practice of gathering kai and looking after each other.

A best-selling collaboration returns tomorrow 👀

Our second collaboration with Tā Moko artist Graham Tipene (Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei) arrives in time for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.

This design is Inspired by Kawakawa Pounamu, our treasured Aotearoa greenstone, and the call to embrace and protect Te Reo Māori.

BLUNT x Graham Tipene is available from 17th September in both Classic and Metro sizes.
