36th America's Cup - Volunteer & Project Work

It has been two years since this page was created for the 36th America's Cup research project in Auckland. We are working towards another comparative study on the volunteers at the 37th America's Cup in Barcelona, Spain post-event.

Grateful for all the inputs from our survey participants and interviewees. Looking forward to put their stories into theoretical and practical concepts on volunteering in events. This project is still in progress.

The recent America’s Cup has concluded in Auckland and some of you may have had the opportunity to experience the race as a supporter, spectator, volunteer, or as a freelance event/project contractor.

I am part of a team of researchers at Auckland University of Technology and University of Otago, and we would like to reach out to individuals who are into sailing. We are particularly interested in your opinion on your involvement in the America’s Cup. The purpose of the study is to understand the motivations behind serious volunteers or freelance workers in AC36, and how that relates to their social world of sailing.
