So you've found fish holding or feeding tight to the bottom in a pocket of slower water, but the current is ripping between you and them. Maintaining a dead drift with your usual indicator nymphing rig can be tricky. That's where Euro nymphing comes into its own, allowing you to maintain direct contact and detect even the subtlest of takes, without your flies getting dragged downstream.

A stunning arctic char from Northern Norway, on the Primal Revel CS.

Arctic char is a much sought-after species in northern Norway. They can be terribly tricky sometimes, especially in well-nourished lakes where gammarus and arctic tadpole shrimp (Lepidurus arcticus) are abundant.

Greetings from Hokkaido, Japan.

Our mate Seiichi has welcomed the fishing season in Hokkaido and sent us through some photos from his latest trip.

"The fish species is "Ezo-Ugui" (Hokkaido dace). The lighter-coloured ones are females, and the darker-coloured ones are males. It's a beautiful fish that can only be caught during this time of year."

Steve has found that the Primal Mega CCC 9ft 10wt has been ideal for casting larger profile barra flies in run off and impoundment scenarios, and muscling them out of the timber.
