“This may sound too simple, but is great in consequence.
Until one is committed, there is hesitancy,
the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.

Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation),
there is one elementary truth,
the ignorance of which kills countless ideas
and splendid plans:

that the moment one definitely commits oneself,
then Providence moves too.

All sorts of things occur to help one
that would never otherwise have occurred.

A whole stream of events issues from the decision,
raising in one's favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way.

I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe's couplets:

Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it!”

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.
You cannot build character and courage by destroying men's initiative and independence.
And you cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.

Just because something is hard it doesn't mean something is wrong.

When you're doing something different that's helping you evolve, you will naturally venture out of your comfort zone.

And discomfort is simply a part of the growth zone.

When you experience some uncomfortable feelings, remind yourself that those are supposed to be there. They’re not a sign that something is wrong.

“He sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;
the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."
— Dalai Lama

The reason to deliberately do hard things is so that when non-self-elected challenges arrive (& they will), you can tell yourself: “I don’t know how this is all going to turn out, but I am certain I can do hard things.” Don’t self-injure. But doing hard things is always worthwhile.
- Andrew D. Huberman

“It’s a fascinating paradox that the most resilient people have usually lived through hell.

And those that have had very nice privileged lives are often the most fragile among us.” — Seerut Chawla
